Be a good person with principles and don't test your own and others' bottom line.
As the defense lawyer said, Bernie is a sinner, but he is definitely not a beast. People should have human dignity. Bernie did not give up his kindness in the prison where the sins were gathered, which is enough to prove his true repentance. Of course, if Bernie knew how to reject the old lady's control, if someone pointed out a way out for him, there would be no tragedy behind. But since it has happened, it is a warning to future generations.
