Les Miserables

When I was a child, I watched Forrest Gump and thought it was a very light comedy, especially when it was told by a simple Forrest Gump. Most of the sky in my memory was bright, which always made people feel the positive side of life.
Many years later, perhaps because I grew up, watching this movie again was suppressed by the hardships of life in the movie and it was difficult to fall asleep. The director used Forrest Gump to cover up the dark side of the world. Life is like a box of chocolates, and most of them are not sweet.

Forrest Gump's mother is a single mother, her child not only has low IQ, but also has physical defects.
Jenny has no mother and was molested by her father since childhood.
The lieutenant lost his soldiers and his legs.
Bubba was only keen on shrimp fishing, but died in a foreign land.
The above is the life that they have no choice but have to face.

The following are their own choices.
Forrest Gump's mother trampled on her body in order to give her an equal education. Then the children study, serve, and die alone.
In order to realize her dream, Jenny came into contact with the underground industry, later took drugs, and later fell ill, and Xiang Xiaoyu died. Moreover, it is not close to the original dream.
Lieutenant's alcoholism, from a responsible and honorable officer to a life-threatening situation.
You will find that life is still painful after making a choice, with or without hope.
And the society flashed on TV, from JFK to Lennon, all kinds of shootings. These are real life, these are the chocolates that most people taste.

Several protagonists are still lucky, because Forrest Gump has changed their fate somewhat. The person who drives the school bus is still driving the school bus, and the doctor in the market is still a doctor in the market. It is not clear whether this is lucky or unfortunate. And the unknown public who followed Forrest Gump didn't know how to face this tragic world.
Suddenly I felt that this classic movie with the label of "inspirational" did not convey much positive energy.
If only I, an audience member, could watch this story as simply as Forrest Gump.
