It's an old movie, it's a classic. Anything with content will survive and never go out of style. I like this movie because of its breadth, you can feel anything you want to know: faith, freedom, friendship, institutions, reason...
The name of the movie is straightforward, it is the redemption of Andy and the redemption of life. In the film, Red says, hope is a dangerous thing, a source of mental distress. Having spent thirty years in a heavily squeezed prison, he is indeed qualified to say that. Many of us, unknowingly, have become red, numb in habits, and dying in numbness, and the standard life has gradually become a prison where we are imprisoned, and in the end, we dare not even think about escaping. But there are always people like Andy who tell us, "Remember, hope is a good thing, maybe even the best thing in the world. And good things never go away." So Andy spent 20 years digging up Red and thought it would be impossible for 600 years. Drilled tunnel. When he finally climbed out of the foul-smelling sewage pipe and couldn't help standing in the pouring rain, we seemed to see that hope was realized with the support of faith, breaking through the dark curtains and opening a dazzling thunderbolt in the dark.
Under the light, our cowardices were revealed and trembling. We need some guidance and traction from believers like Andy, maybe we should all be Andy ourselves.
