redemption

Like Morgan Freeman's deep voice, all the narration, clean and settled.

In fact, such a movie is more suitable for tasting alone in the dead of night. Perhaps dim lights and warm coffee are more suitable for contrasting the boundaries between black and white. But fortunately, a person's bedroom, the gloomy sky, the roar of the train occasionally came, and the pace of Andy and Red felt a certain desire for freedom.

Begin to believe in karma, or in other words, in the power of the human heart. 19 years of imprisonment, no one can hear the silent cry of the innocent. Forbearance and persistence, believe and hope, those sufferings and pains are just to usher in the ultimate freedom. Hope for life makes Andy carve chess and small objects, write a letter to apply for funding to rebuild the prison library, start the radio broadcast of Figaro's wedding records, use a small hand mallet to chisel a hole in exchange for a new life, that kind of life is inevitable is beautiful. Brooks' bird, the moment it is released, even imagines how it spreads its wings into the sky.

Each of us is bound by such and such things, tangible or intangible, we thought about breaking free, but gave up, still repeating meaningless life in the old rules. Perhaps, putting aside everything and doing what you want to do is a kind of redemption for yourself. Every life is born with a knowledge of dreams, longings, and hopes, but on the road of survival, their individuality and edges and corners are erased, so it is like entering an invisible prison, day after day, year after year, Bowing down to survive, forgetting the ideals and ambitions of the past, forgetting the frivolity of youth. Or maybe we think too much and do too little, waiting foolishly for the world to change for us, but never thinking about changing ourselves. The human mind, a strong and cowardly existence, often wanders at midnight, cursing the injustice of fate, and it itself has the power to change.

I like the intoxicated expression of the beautiful singing voice flying over the prison, time seems to stand still, and it seems to be roaring; I like Andy's last white temples, those blue eyes, the look that sees through everything; I like Red's memories Like Andy, like the voice, talking about the past and the future; like Tommy's sincerity, the cynical attitude is actually insisting on the truth and being responsible for friends; like the blue ocean, the last hug, as if It is exhausting the power of the afterlife.

Hope is always there, maybe close, maybe far, but never lose it. Believe in the beauty of the future, believe in the realization of your dreams, believe and act, whether it is freedom or other, you will eventually get it.

Of course, the existence and support of friends is indispensable. The world is not isolated. We communicate with people and things around us, build relationships, and share joys and sorrows, so we feel the value of existence. When Andy won the benefits of beer for the workers, he believed that at that moment, what he handed over was not only a bottle of wine, but also a sincerity.

Our sadness is not that we cannot achieve our dreams, but that we surrender to the pressure of reality prematurely. Brooks was finally released on parole after 50 years of imprisonment, but he committed suicide because he could not adapt to the reality of life. It is always easier to give up than to persist, so too many times we give up to pursue the seemingly unreachable dream, imagining that one day it may suddenly come true, however, Most of these fantasies are impossible to achieve. Maybe one day, they will find that they are very different from our fantasies, so pessimism is out of tune, so they give up the courage to start again. What is redemption? Freedom or a dream, use all your strength to achieve it.

Maybe the current life is not what we want, maybe the current situation is more difficult than imagined, so what? It is a beautiful bird, and we cannot imprison its freedom forever. When its feathers grow and spread its wings, we will be redeemed. So that piece of sky, that piece of sea, that kind of scenery, that kind of mood, is what we can only see after we find the exit. We may make mistakes, we may sink, we may be lost, we may be presumptuous, but as long as we can finally find the direction leading to peace of mind, we will surely go forward.

Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.

The Shawshank Redemption quotes

  • [after Brooks held a knife to Heywood's throat]

Andy Dufresne: I just don't understand what happened in there.

Heywood: Old man's crazy as a rat in a tin shithouse, is what.

Red: Oh Heywood, that's enough out of you!

Ernie: I heard he had you shittin' in your pants!

    Heywood: Fuck you!

Red: Would you knock it off? Brooks ain't no bug. He's just... just institutionalized.

    Heywood: Institutionalized, my ass.

Red: The man's been in here fifty years, Heywood. Fifty years! This is all he knows. In here, he's an important man. He's an educated man. Outside, he's nothin'! Just a used up con with arthritis in both hands.

  • Red: [narrating, referring to the warden committing suicide] I'd like to think that the last thing that went through his head, other than that bullet, was to wonder how the hell Andy Dufresne ever got the best of him.
