"It's a must-see movie for men," everyone said. But simply distinguishing between genders will make the film narrower. The Shawshank Redemption pushes beyond the confines of men's films, with an almost unbelievably heartwarming tone throughout, and the greatest theme in the film is "hope." When we have no choice but to encounter the kind of prison that imprisoned the freedom of the mind like Shawshank, are we helpless old Brooke, discouraged Reid, or wise Andy? Use wisdom, trust hope, and face fear to defeat it? Classic movies are classic because they all do the same thing - let you appreciate the goodness of hope from a different perspective.

Angry praise, it is difficult to have a film that better interprets the relationship between dream and redemption than "Shawshank's Redemption". The psychological washing and shock brought by the film is so profound. Compared with Andy, we see it in our lives. What is the hurdle that seems impossible to overcome? When you can always embrace your dreams, even if you fail, you will surely get the salvation of hope.

The Shawshank Redemption quotes

  • Red: [narrating] I wish I could tell you that Andy fought the good fight, and the Sisters let him be. I wish I could tell you that - but prison is no fairy-tale world. He never said who did it, but we all knew. Things went on like that for awhile - prison life consists of routine, and then more routine. Every so often, Andy would show up with fresh bruises. The Sisters kept at him - sometimes he was able to fight 'em off, sometimes not. And that's how it went for Andy - that was his routine. I do believe those first two years were the worst for him, and I also believe that if things had gone on that way, this place would have got the best of him.

  • Warden Samuel Norton: Do you enjoy working in the laundry?

Andy Dufresne: No sir, not especially.
