The film begins to use cross-edited images to convey such a set of images: One night in 1947, banker Andy, whose eyes are full of puzzlement and anger, is sitting in a car, drunk and holding a revolver; His wife's affair with the golf coach is going on; then there's an intense cross-examination of Andy by lawyers in court. Through the integration of possibilities, this set of images conveys a causal relationship to the audience, and Andy was eventually sentenced to two life sentences for the brutal shooting of his wife and her lover. The place of detention is Shawshank Prison (also translated as Shawshank Prison), which just fits the audience's subjective thinking, that is, if there is a crime, there is a premise of redemption.

But the important thing is that the film does not re-enact this "fact" process, but enters the second stage: Andy's life in Shawshank Prison.

Expectation is the most perfect possession of human beings. As long as you don't let it go, expectations will always accompany you. Freedom comes with expectation.

It's definitely too much expectation that leads to a little disappointment

It can be said that this is the originator of the prison escape series. The storyline is delicate and compact. From being forced to prison, fighting wits and courage in prison, trying to survive in the cracks, and the extreme desire to regain freedom, relying on super high IQ and extraordinary. His courage, time and time again, turned dangers into bargain, and finally escaped successfully with his inmates and gained freedom. The social darkness and corruption revealed from the side are worth pondering

The Shawshank Redemption quotes

  • Red: [Narrating] There must be a con like me in every prison in America. I'm the guy who can get if for you; cigarettes, a bag of reefer, if that's your thing, a bottle of brandy to celebrate your kid's high school graduation, damn near anything within reason. Yes sir, I'm a regular Sears and Roebuck.

  • Andy Dufresne: ...or come to think of it, I suppose I could set it up for you. That would save you some money. I'll write down the forms you need, you can pick them up, and I'll prepare them for your signature... nearly free of charge... I'd only ask three beers apiece for my co-workers, if that seems fair. I think a man working outdoors feels more like a man if he can have a bottle of suds. That's only my opinion.
