Watched it again today. It really is that every time I watch it, I feel as if I have different feelings in my heart. It seems that I am full of courage and hope after reading it, and pursue my own free life.
Andy, the protagonist of the film, is really an incredible character. Unjustly imprisoned because of the accidental death of his cheating wife and her lover, 19 years, 19 years, he was finally able to escape from prison. I can't imagine how he did it. During these 19 years, step by step I am amazed by his courage and perseverance in planning how to escape from prison, he never gave up, and finally succeeded. It is said that Brooke, the old administrator of the film prison library, obviously got the chance of parole, because after 50 years in prison, he has long been used to it, and he does not want to leave the prison. There is an explanation in the film that he was "institutionalized". So much so that after Brooke was released from prison, he chose to commit suicide because he could not adapt to the outside world. With this comparison, Andy's bravery and strength can be better reflected. There is a metaphor that is very good, "The world is a huge Shawshank", but usually because we are "institutionalized" because of our inner cowardice and weakness, how many people can be like Andy? That's why I love this film, it shows us a hopeful, brave and tough Andy who does things we never dared or couldn't do
I like this saying: "I hope to give people freedom." Always hope that we will not be institutionalized by this world.
