From puzzles to forgiveness, his story is also the story of each of us

For Kang's son, Kang left him only vague memories of childhood and several world-famous architectural heritage. I don't know if Kang lived for a few more years and his son inherited his father's mantle, there would be more buildings in the world that moved us, but it was because of such a slightly sad reality that it was given to him Gave us an independent perspective on Kang's architecture.

Kang's architecture is not as "easy to understand" as other architectures. His architecture uses primitive materials and forms to create a space, a space with emotions. Such buildings, like himself, left his children a mystery. Piece by piece of pursuit, slowly assembling the puzzle pieces to find his father's truest appearance. The clue to the film is architecture, but it doesn't talk much about architecture. But in such an introduction, I found the people my father worked with back then, and found bits and pieces of my father from their mouths.
The unassuming Kang has a huge personality charm. The people who worked with him loved him. Many people knew that he was Kang's son, and they were very moved and excited, especially the old captain, who burst into tears in front of the camera. Because for a moment, it seemed that Kang, who had been away for so many years, had returned.

In some of the words he asked his mother, we could see that he was actually a little dissatisfied with Kang's injustice to his family. Also especially wishing Kang was actually on his way home at the end. Why do you only come to see us once a week, why don't you marry my mother, why do we spend so little time together? This journey is not only a journey to find his father, but also includes forgiveness and relief for his own father.
He is a philanthropist, he loves everyone, devotes himself to his work, gave us these buildings, and gave people eternal love, but he can't take care of the people around him, and he can't give his children the same as his lovers. Love.

At the end the kid said, now that I know a little more about him, I miss him more than ever, but he really wants something to change.
By this time, the director has actually completely forgiven his father, but still, he hopes to have a more perfect ending, and he hopes to spend more time with his father.

Each of us actually has such a story. Maybe they were too busy with work to accompany us when they were young, or maybe we sometimes didn’t understand him. Our fathers may not have accomplished what Kang did, but to us they were our heroes. Although we live together every day, his work and his story are still a mystery to some of us. Wish we could get to know our father better, spend more time together and listen to his story to me personally.

My Architect quotes

  • Louis Kahn: A work of art... is not a living thing... that walks or runs. But the making of a life. That which gives you a reaction. To some it is the wonder of man's fingers. To some it is the wonder of the mind. To some it is the wonder of technique. And to some it is how real it is. To some, how transcendent it is. Like the 5th Symphony, it presents itself with a feeling that you know it, if you have heard it once. And you look for it, and though you know it you must hear it again. Though you know it you must see it again. Truly, a work of art is one that tells us that Nature cannot make what man can make.

  • Louis Kahn: When you want to give something presence, you have to consult nature. And there is where design comes in. If you think of brick, for instance, you say to brick, "What do you want, brick?" And brick says to you, "I like an arch." And if you say to brick, "Look, arches are expensive, and I can use a concrete lintel over you. What do you think of that, brick?" brick says, "I like an arch."

    [Students laugh]

Louis Kahn: And it's important, you see, that you honor the material that you use. You don't bandy it around as though you said, "Well, we have a lot of material around. We can do it one way, we can do it another." It's not true. You can only do it if you honor the brick, and glorify the brick, instead of just shortchanging it.
