"Love Three Seasons"

It was the first time I watched a Vietnamese film. The whole film showed me a panorama of Vietnamese society. It was hot and crowded, but several stories flowed through my heart like a clear spring.

The opening chapter is the scene of "the lotus leaves are boundless in the sky". Cailian Nuxin goes boating on the lake every day and picks lotus flowers to sell in the market. Her singing evokes the poetry of the reclusive poet Du Jiuwai. In the years when the poet's life was about to end, Xin recorded his last poems. When Du died, Xin sprinkled freshly blooming lotus flowers on the ancient and long Mekong River. This story easily reminds me of the phrase "Lower your head and get the lotus seeds, the lotus seeds are as clear as water".

The second story is similar to "The Oil Seller dominates the oiran". Hai was attracted by the beautiful back of the prostitute Lian, and he followed silently. He took part in the crazy tricycle race, won the prize money, and also won the chance to spend the night with Lian. He didn't want to do anything, just quietly watched the sleeping face of his beloved woman, An Tian, until dawn. Hai used his savings to buy a long white dress for Lian, and the white dress danced in the flying red leaves, as if the suffering and inner pain never existed in this world...

James failed to find his daughter and was about to leave. At the carnival party, he suddenly found a drunken alcoholic lying on his daughter's shoulders, her daughter was indifferently perfunctory and teasing professionally, while James was always in tears.

From the beginning of the film, the little boy Woody wore a big raincoat, braved the majestic rain, and shuttled around every corner of the city. He was carrying a wooden box, and that wooden box was his livelihood. There are all kinds of gadgets that need to be sold. The wooden box was lost, I searched for the wooden box, and later met a girl in the same situation. The two sat on the floor of the store and watched cartoons happily and contentedly... Finally, they found his wooden box beside a beggar. This story is very similar to "Little Shoes", and the innocence of children is unbearable. I prefer this one, I think it would be good to make a movie alone.

I don't like the practice of being poor or disabled to make people's tears, but this film is full of such little people, lotus-pickers, disabled poets, prostitutes, tricycle drivers, street children, almost incomplete, but always mourning Does not hurt. Several stories are alternated, and the switching between stories is a bit abrupt and awkward, but the lighting and soundtrack are good, and there are folk songs with a strong Vietnamese style throughout. Maybe Vietnam is really unfamiliar to us, so this kind of story is particularly attractive.

Three Seasons quotes

  • James Hager: I made many mistakes in my life. That was a long time ago. Have I met the same man I was then? A lot of times past. When a chance comes around to make a wrong a right it's a special thing. But I hoped to make one thing right.
