The movie ended very briefly.
Simple - it's light.
Everything is light.
I don't know why the same amount of time makes me feel like "it's over without beginning".
Snow in Hokkaido. Warm compartment. book in hand. thoughts in mind.
The rumbling train began a journey to find a lover.
Not even a lover.
Just a touch of love, a touch of love.
With a book.
A gesture of reading a book in the grass.
I saw this movie a few years ago. I remember writing it now because of "Love Letter" a few days ago and "Flower and Alice" yesterday.
I thought I couldn't accept Shunji Iwai's slow tone and warm water.
But he was really moved by Song Takako who was holding a red umbrella in the rain in April Story.
The "it's over without the beginning" feeling is because it turns out that I was watching it with the preparation of watching an earth-shattering love story. But I didn't see the laughter and tears I imagined.
What I saw was a light search, a small bookstore, a movie by one person, an uncertain lover. And the beautiful smile in the last rain.
Even the rain is happy.
Finally found. he.
The movie is over. Begins another, unseen, story - with a gesture of simple beauty and softness.
