"Death Crossroads", I don't know what the original meaning of the name in Thai is.
There are also good people who translated its Chinese name as "Ghost 4 abuse". It has a Hong Kong feel.
Whether it is "Crossroads" or "Ghost 4 Abuse", it illustrates the most basic structure of this movie, that is, it consists of four basically independent stories. This segmented film structure is not new. In my impression, there are several movies, each directed by several well-known directors, and then composed. For example, the famous Quentin Tarantino and who co-produced "Blood Mill", Wong Kar-wai co-produced "Eros", and even closer, Hong Kong's "Iron Triangle", as well as several well-known mainland directors on Wenchuan University The documentary film "One in 2008" co-produced by the earthquake adopts a similar structure, and even the advertisements for Yahoo by Feng Xiaogang and Zhang Kaige can also be placed in this category.
4 stories. The first: loneliness; the second: a reminder; the third: the middleman; the fourth: flight 224.
The first story is basically a one-man show for the heroine. The little girl's performance was very good. There is no hysteria, and there is no need to be contrived. Keeping pace with the times, SMS is the most narrative carrier. By the way, MOTO's V3 is really popular all over the world! I don't know if there is any investment from MOTO in this film. If you are interested, you can pay attention to the subtitles after the movie. Ha ha. Seemingly straightforward, but twists and turns. Basically, half of the plot can be guessed, but when the answer to the mystery is known, the atmosphere is even more tense and suffocating. Young girls and boys, don't talk to strangers (not even texting...)
The Second Story finally returns to the signature mode of Thai horror. Pride and prejudice, revenge, head-dropping, and the idea of goodness throughout. What is more exciting is the design of the death scene, which has the charm of "death is coming". An unknowable fate that originates from an accident but cannot be defied. The level of some CGs is not low, and it is refreshing to see the level of computer animation in Thailand. In the end, when I thought that the kinder little girl would escape the catastrophe, I never thought about it or failed to get out of the body. The ferocity and tyranny of the hatred is evident. It is no longer a simple counterattack, but doubled brutality. With such an extremely ferocious ending, it seems to have strengthened the director's perseverance in persuading others to be kind: not only do not use violence, but also act bravely. -_-
I can see that the director of the third short film "The Middleman" is a more lively director. There is basically no horror in the whole story. It is more about chatting and jokes between friends, and a review of many classic movies (or tribute or spoof?) It is not a story that wins by bizarre plots. The plot of this story is very similar to many A classic short ghost story, not too scary, but more of a mere spoof. However, what the director is trying to express seems to be the friendship between four friends, which is not bad. The
last story "Flight 224" is the one that I think is inferior. It's relatively bland and can't even be classified as a horror movie.
BTW, the recent political turmoil in Thailand is very turbulent, and I am quite worried. I hope to recover as soon as possible, so that everyone can continue to develop their film career in peace of mind.
