After watching the whole movie, the biggest feeling is that Korean movies really dare to shoot! A lot of filth is under the veneer of vanity and prosperity, and Korean movies just lift the "fig leaf" over the dirty trade to let everyone taste.
It satirizes the lack of thinking consciousness of ordinary people. There is a quite classic movie line, that is, "the masses are all pigs and dogs". The indignation of the crowd is only guided by some deliberate remarks. As I have seen recently, "Public opinion on the surface is the roar of the group, but in essence, it is just the echo and amplification of one or two voices, giving the mediocre people who can't and don't want to think about it, so that they can vent their anger and gather together. ." And the role of editor-in-chief Li in the movie is the one who amplifies the voice. From coercing public opinion to force prosecutors to resign, to making up the "regular sexual assault" of gang leaders, he dominated the public's thinking with a pen, turning black and white. Power has intertwined politicians, industrial giants, and media reporters, but it has been washed cleanly and irrelevantly under Editor Li's pen, allowing the people who eat melons to accept the fact that they are "innocent". Candidate Jiang gave a speech saying that he wanted to maintain the innocence of the country, and the crowd erupted in support, but the gang leader who came forward to expose everything could only end up in prison. This strong contrast makes people sigh about the power of inverting black and white, and as Editor-in-chief Li said, "Words are power."
Dirty power-money deals exposed. This is a 2016 movie, but these dark issues of bribery, bribe-taking, gang formation, and violent attacks are still happening every day. There are several scenes that impressed me a lot. The first is the scene where the businessman is holding money for bribes, stacks of coins are neatly placed in the box, and finally covered with a gift box of fruit, secretly exchanging in the parking lot. One can't help but think of the recent "Tiger" and "Little Seafood". This is a routine that no one dares to say, but it did not appear in the anti-corruption documentary. The second is the nude party at President Jiang's house. This naked power and sex trade also made the prosecutor eventually become an "insider". The prosecutor stood in front of Candidate Jiang's house with drinks, smiled at each other and said, "Now we're all in the water." We have each other's handle, and we can stand on the same boat with more mutual trust. The third is the scene where the prosecutor is scolded by the chief prosecutor. The prosecutor in the movie isn't a particularly powerful character, he's full of foul language, he's rude, he's capable and righteous but not where he wants to be. When the tainted failure to find candidate Jiang was about to be suspended, the prosecutor knelt in front of the director begging for a chance, but the director said, "You should have behaved well, or be born better."
While writing this review, I re-watched the beginning of the film and stumbled across a hidden line in the film. Candidate Jiang's rival in the film, Candidate Kim, had approached Editor-in-Chief Lee at the very beginning. He saw through Editor Li's plan, and knew that Editor Li tied Future Auto and Candidate Jiang together. He asked Editor Li for a dental floss and asked him if he was willing to change camps and connect him. At the beginning of the film, the high-ranking official (secretary-general) belonged to Candidate Kim. He directed the chief prosecutor to find a suitable person to pour dirty water on Candidate Jiang, and this suitable person was the male prosecutor in the film. Therefore, a prosecutor who seems to be just is actually just a pawn in the dispute between political parties. He wants to support justice and seek a high position, but in fact he is just clearing obstacles for others. At the end, on the surface, justice has triumphed over evil, and those who take bribes will eventually be punished by the law, but in reality, it is just another Kim candidate who is clean on the outside in power. How will the dirty inside change?
In the video, the prosecutor and the gangster drink and eat barbecue in their hometown. The prosecutor said to the gangster:
"Article 11 of Chapter II of the Constitution, all men are created equal and shall not be discriminated against on the basis of sex, religious belief or social status"
"Would you let our children live in such a country?"
