1. Kimura - The Loser of Dream Shura Field

In a high school full of delinquent teenagers, Kimura aimed at Koshien, the holy land of high school sports in Japan, and poured his entire youth into it, but in the end he was not able to be shortlisted.

2018 is the 100th competition of Jiaziyuan (China has been suspended for three years due to war). Because baseball is a national sport in Japan, the annual Koshien game has become the focus of national attention. In the century after the completion of Jiaziyuan, I do not know how much youth and dreams have been entrusted.

56:3971, this is the ratio from pre-selection to finalist Koshien in 2018.

The admission rate of less than 2%, compared with the admission rate of Ivy League universities in the same year, is 5.2%-12.5%.

The cruelty of competing for dreams can be imagined.

In the movie, in this hopeless high school, Kimura chose to gamble, baseball is all his youth.

He devoted his entire youth to the dream of "being shortlisted for Koshien".

And failure comes so casually and naturally.

After the game, when he was playing mahjong with his juniors for entertainment, facing the consolation of the juniors, he just said lightly: "I should throw the curve ball, according to the substitute's words."

Before he joined the gang, Kimura had a conversation with a gang member who was a senior in the baseball club, and revealed that being shortlisted for Koshien was not only his personal dream, but also the unfulfilled wish of his senior.

There are also baseball shirts that the predecessors had left for themselves, the lining is full of declarations of chasing dreams.

Now, as a loser, he can only give up the position of chasing his dream to the younger generation.

"You must enter Jiaziyuan and win my youth back."

Forbearance and fiery dreams, so continue in this school.

2. Snow Man - Childhood Misfortune and World Peace

The plot doesn't explain much about Xue Nan's childhood, but when Xue Nan kills Ota, the movie flashes back to a certain photo of Xue Nan's childhood, which indirectly shows that Xue Nan's violent tendencies have some connection with his childhood encounters.

In the photo, the young Snow Man was crying, but he was showing victory gestures with his hands.

According to another detail of the movie-when everyone took a photo on the rooftop, Yukino said to Ota "Do you want to die?", similar to a mantra.

And later, when he took out a knife in the toilet to kill Ota, he also said this.

From this, it can be inferred that Xue Nan's violent tendencies may come from childhood experiences, most likely domestic violence. And his so-called "world peace" may be because he could not bear violence at a young age, and he understands it as no more violence in the world. Therefore, he has been fantasizing that he can become a superman, instead of a person who is obedient to violence like Ota.

The evolution of Yukino's attitude towards Ota in the film is the key to understanding Yukino's violence.

The mantra "Do you want to die?" was mentioned earlier, which was said before the group photo and the murder. But the interpretable information is limited and put aside for now.

There is also a plot in the film. Yukino teaches Ota to play the piano, and the strings are rusted, but Yukino did not directly ask Ota to buy it, but asked Yoshimura to buy it. It can be seen here that Xue Nan did not regard Ota as his sidekick, and the phrase "Want to die" in the group photo before was just an expression of the intimate relationship between the two.

And then, while chatting with Jiujo on the rooftop, Yukino saw Ota playing with the gangster.

He blurted out, "Don't be stubborn." It was obvious that he hated Ota's behavior or fooling around with such people.

To sum up, we can roughly guess the motive of Yukino's violence. He suffered some kind of violence as a child, combined with the mantra "Do you want to die?", most likely domestic violence from his father.

That's why there was a tendency to violence, and it evolved into a murder against Ota.

On the other hand, he has the illusion of becoming a superman and strives to be in line with justice, so he will say that he will study hard and be admitted to university.

When he was arrested by the police, he still struggled to say naively about exams and graduation.

Justice and violence, innocence and cruelty, twins, so contradictory.

When the teacher asked him about his future aspirations, he had a weak response, "world peace."

When chatting with Jiujo on the rooftop, Jiujo asked him the same question.

He replied earnestly, "I'm destined to be Superman."

To others, no matter how they feel, it's just a kid's joke.

Yeah, who would believe the gibberish of little children.

Whether it's "World Peace" or "Want to Die?"

3. Kujo, Aoki - what is lost and what is lost

Jiutiao took seven shots on the rooftop and successfully reached the apex of "order". It looks like the wind is light and the clouds are light, but it is standing in the abyss.

The essence of the rooftop game is not difficult to say - no one is afraid of death.

And by extension, as long as your heart is empty enough, you can be afraid of nothing.

This is Kujo's heart - full of emptiness.

He easily stands at the apex of "order", but he is not keen on the realization of power and the performance of the relationship between giving and receiving.

After becoming the eldest, he played football with Aoki once, and the conversation revealed that they used to play football with friends, but not anymore.

"I only joined when you called me" "I don't care about winning or losing anymore"

It turned out that whether it was football entering the finals or competing for the top, it was probably Aoki's will.

Aoki's incomparably warm-hearted friendship, for Kujo, only meant a burden, and it meant carrying Aoki's expectations.

Aoki knew very well that if he did not obey or maintain "order", he would be teased for no reason by those waiting for an opportunity, so Aoki was more eager to maintain "order" than anyone else.

He has the ability to stand at the top because he can be more heartless than anyone, and he proved it later.

On the other side, Kujo is on the guardrail on the rooftop (the metaphor of the guardrail will be said later), seeing the end of the youth of Kimura and Yukino.

It was only then that he discovered that climbing to the top of "order" would not fill the emptiness in his heart, but might lead him into a more threatening situation.

The proud smile when he won the clapping game is still fresh in his memory, but at this moment, no one knows the loss and disappointment in his heart.

Fortunately, I was told by the teacher of one meter two.

"It's been quiet lately."

The one-meter-two teacher is probably the person who understands the students the most in the entire school.

But he knew that all he could do was chat with the students, teach them to plant flowers, water them, and wait patiently.

Under the guidance of the one-meter-two teacher, Jiujo tried to reconcile with reality, trying to find a way to liberate.

He started watering every day, playing football with the 1.2-meter teacher, and sitting back in the first row to have a good lesson.

Aoki cherishes his friendship with Kujo and always looks forward to his approval.

He fully supported Kujo when he became number one.

But how does Kujo, who doesn't care about everything, become that, Aoki's ideal apex.

As a result, the contradictions between the two piled up in Aoki's psychological gap.

At that time, when Kujo was trying to reconcile with reality, Aoki mistakenly thought he was still angry with himself.

As a result, Aoki broke out the grievances in his heart, chose to tear the friendship between the two, and personally climbed to the top, trying to prove himself.

"I will do what you can't"

And when Aoki stood where Kujo once stood, after watching the scenery he had seen all night.

It is a pity to find that no matter how to catch up with Kujo's pace, he can only become the dark shadow, but not the one who casts the shadow.

He also couldn't walk into the world of Jiujoo, fully understand him, and trust him.

So he made a once-in-a-lifetime flight.

"My dream is to be a pilot"

4. Metaphors

-Guardrail

The word "youth" on the poster and the title at the beginning of the film can be seen from the shape of the guardrail, which means that the film is trying to tell the story of crossing the guardrail of youth.

- Training of juniors

Kimura's lost youth reborn

- Ghost deworming

Because of the splicing method of the film montage, it can be understood as Yukino's hatred of violence.

Later, the coexistence of cherry blossoms and caterpillars on the ghost desk means that hatred is dissolved, and ideal and reality coexist.

-magic

Teacher Yimi Er performed magic for Jiutiao, which made Jiutiao give up the idea of dropping out of school.

Withered flowers, reborn by magic, symbolize Kujo's heart, successfully crossed the guardrail of youth, and reached a reconciliation with reality.

"Flowers are meant to bloom, not wither"
