The earth we love and depend on is out of order.
On a certain day, certain month, and a certain year, a wandering asteroid leaned into the atmosphere. Of course, mankind had long foreseen such disasters, so dense missiles were launched from the earth to destroy the damn asteroid. However, it was unexpected that the various chemical materials in the missile fell on the earth and caused mutations in various organisms. Lizards, crocodiles, cockroaches, etc. have all grown into extremely huge monsters. What's more terrifying is that these giant monsters use their big mouths with huge teeth to devour humans. In just one year, the earth lost 95% of its population. The rest had to hide underground, mines, caves. Despite the loss of his family, Joey (Dylan O'Brien) is still a lucky survivor. In addition to finding food outside, he also has to resist invading monsters from time to time. However, at the most critical moment, Joey is always nervous and froze and becomes useless. He can't help at all. Over time, he was in charge of logistics in the cave, cooking macaroni or repairing radio.

Since he can walk so many roads back and forth with a piece of waste wood, if he is united, he can regain his own world sooner or later.

Because some big insects have to give up the music, dance, and sports they love, we can only hide in the hole and live forever. In other words, completely bid farewell to the unique and proud life of human beings, and all that is left is to survive on the stomach, it is better to raise the beasts in the zoo. It's awkward to think about it. I'm locked in a hole in the ground all day, no TV, no music, and there are so many crying faces all the year round. It would be nice to not go crazy. But people are people, and they have a thinking brain. Will come up with many ways to toss himself, or other humans or creatures around him. It is "No zuo, no die". Therefore, Joey would rather take the risk and travel specifically to find Amy. It was because of the success of the initial trial that he called on everyone to go out of the hole and into the sunny world.
Anyway, human beings are different from other creatures, they are advanced thinking animals, how can they be locked in a hole by a few large lizards. So in the end, everyone arrogantly walked out of the cave with their bows and arrows on their backs. It can be "this is the last fight", of course they are more likely to retake a whole new world.
Joey just represents an important difference between humans and animals. That is, taking risks will give mankind progress. We have come down from the tree and walked step by step to have today's civilization. It was achieved through the hard work and struggle of countless people like Joey.
