the film reveals the struggle between those who covet the precious stone and those who strive to protect it. the theme of the story very much resembles that of "A World Without Thieves", and the "bad-guys-fail-at-last" ending didn't surprise me. the precious stone was firstly stolen by the debauchee to impress his girl, and finally the lucky cop gave it to his girlfriend. it seems that however much men could've done, the jade ends up in front of girls' chest. maybe the director gave that ending to the jade for the sake of black humor, but i'd rather prefer the compare of the precious stone to love.
there're lots of laughters in it, some of which went outta ridiculous coincidences as well as plots and lines. people can seldom hold their laughters when hearing thieves calling others "immoral" in a serious attitude. black humor can also be found throughout the plot, leaving me in dilemma of whether to laugh or not when they happen. in the last scene, the big winner, who got all by sheer chance, finally solved his prostate problem through day-dreaming before awarded in front of public. watching an adult happily peeing with his pants on, i feel more than ridiculous.
black humor can never be that light, but to convert grave things into humor is necessary, just for the sake of entertainment.
