Boy farewell

one

Eastwood is the only person who can shoot "Space Cowboys".

Looking back at the vigorous and vigorous westerns of the 1960s and 1970s, people can't help but sigh that countless sadness has been concealed in the years ruthlessly. The four-character "Chang Chui" is an understatement, but in fact it is so powerful that it is almost speechless.

Especially for a man with a heroic dream, this is more unacceptable than death.

two

To some extent, fear of aging cannot be the same as fear of death.

From the side, death is another manifestation of human survival. It may be done overnight, or it may be slow, but everyone knows and knows that it will eventually come. Or rather, without the knowledge of death, one cannot prove that he has survived. From this perspective, death seems to be defined as another kind of idealism, and it does not seem to be terrible.

Aging is shocking. No one can experience death. It is a one-way journey. While the unknown is scary, it also makes people feel illusion and weakness. Aging is the helplessness of empathy. We witnessed the gradual loss of vitality from the body. The once full enthusiasm decayed with the years and melted until it became a mottled scar. This process is irreversible, and any effort in it is just lingering. Thus, the horror of aging is mixed with a deep despair.

three

Unexpectedly, "Space Cowboys" did not forcefully shout out to fate: "Lian Po is old, he can still afford it".

The plot of this 2000 work is not complicated: the four quasi-astronauts who lost the opportunity to fly into space due to accidents picked up the dusty one again in order to repair an old satellite of the same age after forty years. Spacesuit, rushed out of the earth to fulfill their ideals.

Such a movie is easily reminiscent of "Armageddon" or "Deep Impact" with similar themes. The difference is that "Space Cowboys" lacks the impassioned grandeur, but has a touch of warmth. It is meticulously interspersed and projected in every segment of the entire film, with a different kind of warmth.

Four

Although it is called "Space Cowboys", the whole film has only the last 40 minutes of the plot related to space. A large part of the story is about the lives of the four men, getting along, and covering up the loneliness under calm.

"A man is a young man until he dies." This unidentified sentence also has a moving power. Young people always have a hopeless romanticism, which is the heroism of going to death calmly, and the firmness of the innocent heart.

Because of this, the loneliness brought about by aging is swept away with the hope of having the opportunity to pick up the ideal again. Almost without hesitation, the four chose to fly into space again, even if they knew it was extremely dangerous, even if they might never go back.

five

Unexpectedly, and logically, from Hawk Hawkins played by Tommy Lee Jones, we saw the real Eastwood. No longer have the fear and unwillingness of aging, but gently accept its existence.

Hawk Hawkins is the simplest and most passionate of the four. He suffered from pancreatic cancer. His life entered the countdown, but he refused to lie on the bed and calmly head towards the end. Instead, he chose to go to space with the three of them.

This is not a simple resistance, but a process of mutual recognition.

At this time, aging is finally no longer regarded as the source of fear, but accepted as a molecule of life.

Under the uncontrollable objective facts, there are also things that can be controlled and selected, such as beliefs, ideals, enthusiasm, etc., and so on.

Probably this is also the same as Eastwood who came from the era of the chivalrous and tender desert cowboy, "Veterans never die."

six

At the end of the whole film, Hawkins modified the spacecraft parameters and finally sacrificed in space.

His lifelong dream is to go to the moon.

This should be the most romantic farewell of these young people who are more than ancient times.

"Has he reached the moon yet?"

"I think he has arrived."
