It was the first time I went to the cinema to watch a three-hour literary film, but I didn't feel procrastination at all.
The film is a narration method, and the plot is really full. If the director does not use the literary film method, he can make it into a family-style dog blood drama, which is the favorite of aunts. So for me, who doesn't watch literary films very much, I find it quite interesting. Just write it down, this movie is a collection of: family planning, abortion, layoffs, middle-aged bereavement (only child), adopted son rebellious and run away, cheating apprentice, junior pregnancy, suicide...etc
But each point is not narrated like a dog blood drama, but the literary and art are implicitly or even briefly mentioned, which is very good.
In the end, the actors all performed superbly, worthy of the Berlin Silver Bear Award, and their expressions were in place. Wang Yuan has more roles than expected, and he does not play. The key is the lack of PS shots, and it feels that the actors are a lot more real.
