Shochiku has always been synonymous with Japanese art films in my opinion. I have always had a soft spot for films about Japanese samurai. After watching it, it is difficult to connect him with the films of the 20th century. A century-old movie, both in music and color, feels like watching a Japanese movie in the 80s. Only Takuya's iconic voice and an idol's face suggest that this is a new film. When Xinzhihan was training his swordsmanship to his death, I always thought that he would become a super-class swordsman like Zatoichi, killing people without a trace, but the director showed us a real swordsman, a down-to-earth man, a In the heart of self-redemption, maybe this is a real swordsman, a real man. The protagonist finally completes the process of self-redemption, forgives everything with an open-minded heart, and seems to have an epiphany after being blinded. In the seemingly plain picture, the director restored the process of an ordinary young couple returning to peace from their inner turmoil after encountering a sudden blow.
