"Confucius" with warmth

Before watching "Confucius", I guessed that the director may have made such a mistake - in order to show her creative skills, she relentlessly restored Confucius to an ordinary person, she used too much force and ripped off the table. Put on the sacred portrait of Confucius and replace it with a normal color photo. I think Confucius is a saint after all. If he does this, he will probably hurt the fragile nerves of our Chinese people. It wasn't until I watched the film that I realized that my concerns were completely self-inflicted. If the director really does what I said, that's fine. In "Confucius", Confucius is Confucius, and he is still a majestic sage. Moreover, the director also tried to make him a superman, both civil and military, and predictable. It is a pity that the director's attempt did not run through to the end of the film, and it was abandoned halfway when Confucius traveled around the world. What I want to say is that it is precisely because of the lack of that kind of daring spirit that "Confucius" is not so good-looking and does not achieve the effect I expected.
I have seen Martin Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ" and Mel Gibson's "Passion", and they photographed Jesus, who was also a saint, and Confucius. No matter from which angle the films of Scorsese and Gibson come from, there is an air that runs through them, and this air ensures that the film has a conscious ruthlessness. "Confucius" lacks this kind of ruthlessness. Is it because of the director's female identity? No, it was a matter of attitude. She was too worried that the Confucius she photographed was not the Confucius in our minds. So she made "Confucius" into a tender movie, so that it was a bit promiscuous. In my opinion, these unexplained emotions are like the fat on a woman's belly. If you lose it, it will undoubtedly be pleasing to the eye.
If the three thousand disciples of Confucius are his huge fan group, then Yan Hui must be the leader of the fan group. He is simply the number one fan of Confucius. His frantic following of Confucius ensured that he would be stained with the sage's brilliance. Unfortunately, for this rare friendship, the film does not have the slightest foreshadowing. This has something to do with the length of the film, as well as the excessive focus on officialdom in the first half of the film. Yan Hui's death turned out to be out of love for books. This is not the slightest foreshadowing. The audience will not have any sympathy for Yan Hui's death, but find it extremely shocking.
And Nanzi, why did she like Confucius so much? Is it rare just because of lasciviousness? She is a woman with a wealthy chest, how could she be moved by Confucius's few words and worship him? Since Nanzi has been educated by Confucius, why did Confucius run away? His escape can only show that he realizes that he will not be able to hold on one day, which is contrary to his theory of a gentleman.
Ji Sunsi's friendship with Confucius was obviously overdone. Did he have to brave the snow to wait for Confucius in the wilderness? This only shows that Ji Sunsi has lost his basic rationality because he often eats raw meat.
In the column of screenwriters of "Confucius", several names are listed. Sometimes, there are too many screenwriters, which is really not a good thing. In all fairness, the first half of "Confucius" is pretty good. It is a pity that since Confucius traveled around the world, the fragmented plot unfolded one after another, and the inconspicuous details also followed. From this point of view, "Confucius" and "Mei Lanfang" are the same, they are only half a good show. Director Hu Mei is really handy in controlling official court dramas. After all, there are so many TV series of this kind. But she didn't make good road scenes. When I mention Confucius, the first thing that comes to my mind is traveling around the world. This is the most awesome deed in Confucius' life. So I always felt that filming Confucius should be made into an ancient road film. It's a pity that the director wasted such a theme. She finally made "Confucius" a court film, and even the fact that Confucius traveled around the world was just an episode of the struggle between the court officials.
