1. Relevance from seemingly irrelevant content

Evenings are always sentimental. People get emotional at night.

In the first scene of the film, there are cars coming and going on the city streets in the evening, but no one can be seen. There is a little warm sunset in the distance, but the whole sky is gloomy and approaching night, and it seems that the last bit of warmth is warm. also about to disappear. Maybe that's the tone of the whole movie. The seemingly unrelated content actually sets the tone for the entire film.

Then a man threw himself on the street, and gunshots were heard in the distance. But the scene turns to a resident doing laundry in the morning light. But the later film has absolutely nothing to do with the person who threw the street and washed the clothes. It seemed like a day like no other. A shooting incident is just one of countless crimes.

This also dissolves the particularity of the entire film event, as if to tell the audience that this is just in daily life, that there is nothing special about the behavior and emotions of these people, it is you, it is me, and it is the world around us.

Before the shooting of the director at the back of the film, the appearance of the elementary school students running with their kettles seems to have nothing to do with the overall narrative. But directly brought an uncertain dream, a sense of anxiety and unease. Perhaps it was the repression and unease one second before the orgasm that made the subsequent orgasm stronger. After discovering that it was a dream, it was accompanied by an irresistible depression and sentimentality. In the end, the heroine's vomiting left a reflection. It seems that it has nothing to do with the main content, but it makes the audience re-organize the film in doubt to find the answer to why they vomited. Is it Li Lizhong's posthumous son? Or is the so-called child with Xiao Shen about to bring the life she has always wanted? Or is it just disgust for this living environment.

It's not just these scenes and little things that seem to have nothing to do with the film. The stories of the main characters are also interspersed with a lot of things that seem to have nothing to do with the main line. But it greatly enriches the extension of the film and makes the characters more full. Although each character has a corresponding function in the film, we believe that there is still a story behind him that can make another film.

For example, a bad girl was taken home by her mother. Her mother only said a few words, but it brought the whole girl's growth environment. The photography boy went to the store to get the camera, and a few words explained the reason why the boy could do nothing but take pictures, thus perfecting the logic of the characters and the story.

It is these unrelated things that make the whole film less like a drama unfolding before our eyes, but like a net, wrapping us from the clutter of daily life and immersing us in it. If the movie is the art of dream-making, then this movie is to integrate the dream in the dream into the reality.

2. Character setting and camera presentation

The film has a total of five main characters: bad girl, photography boy, Li Lizhong, Li Lizhong's wife, Xiao Shen; Da Shun, bad girl mother, policeman, Xiao Jin, director, photography boy girlfriend seven secondary characters

Each main character has a corresponding camera presentation to exemplify the character, reveal the relationship between the characters, and even set the tone for the entire character.

The first scene when Li Lizhong's wife appeared was sleeping in the gentle morning light with a wedding ring on her hand. There seems to be a little warmth, a little loneliness, and more of a hazy dream. The picture moves, and it takes a slightly anxious length of time to pass through the darkness and then to the bright and dazzling balcony. Li Lizhong is doing a squatting exercise. Then he went to the door to put on shoes and asked his wife to wash his clothes for him. His wife told him about novels, but he said some stereotyped words, and finally settled on "writing novels is not a big deal."

So far, the first appearance of the two protagonists has been completed. This scene has not yet explained any contradictions between the characters, but the whole feeling has come out. The loneliness of the heroine, the incomprehension of the husband. The male protagonist seems to have a very self-disciplined and sunny life, but it makes people feel a pattern and boring. The relationship between two people is also a stereotyped blandness, as well as a sense of distance and alienation that will not be in the same frame.

Next is their respective daytime life, the male protagonist's working environment is a repetitive and depressing cement and glass office building. And the heroine went to see Xiao Shen, which also led to the first appearance of the character Xiao Shen. And the first time it appeared, it was in the same frame as the heroine. It also seems to name future developments. From their dialogue, we also learned for the first time that the contradiction between the heroine and her husband is that they cannot understand each other.

And at home at night, the heroine first appeared alone (recalling the past while smoking), and then the male lead appeared alone. (To complain here, these two people don't talk when they go home, I still have to go home and say "go home" first, and then expect the other party to say "you're back"). But the two were still not in the same frame, and there was another period of silence. The male protagonist completed his exemplary hand washing action, as if the female protagonist couldn't help but went out to say a word to the male protagonist. Although it is in the same frame, the male protagonist is hidden behind the door frame, and the female protagonist is only a back. There are conversations but no heart-to-heart. Same patterned conversation as in the morning, but after the events of the day, we have a more lonely understanding of this bland conversation. Through the switching between medium shots and close shots, we also further see the female protagonist's disappointment and helplessness towards the conversation.
