Martial arts as beautiful as a dream

In fact, the carrier of martial arts culture is not only written novels and various film and television works, but also something that was very popular in the 1980s and 1990s but has been ignored by most people today, that is, comics.

In the early 1980s, Hong Kong's comics industry entered a new era under the leadership of the famous cartoonist Huang Yulang. Since then, excellent works such as "The Storm", "Chinese Heroes" and "Young and Dangerous" have been decapitated. , Hong Kong comics are in the limelight for a while, and these works have also become classics.

In the early 1990s, these works were successively adapted into films, and after they bid farewell to paper carriers, they became popular on various silver screens.

Among them, there are not a few successful ones, and the most well-known ones are "Young and Dangerous", "Wind and Cloud" and so on. And the theme of this issue is one of them - "Wind and Cloud"!

man in painting

The two films "Young and Dangerous" and "The Storm" have one thing in common, that is, Ekin Cheng, the male god, is the main actor.

Ekin Cheng is well known to the audience for playing the role of Chen Haonan in the "Young and Dangerous" series. He plays Chen Haonan, who is very affectionate and righteous, handsome and extraordinary, and his screen image is ready to show, attracting countless fans.

In 1997, he joined several actors in "Young and Dangerous" and co-starred in "Wind and Cloud".

The Nie Feng played in the film is handsome and unrestrained, with long hair flowing freely, which restores Nie Feng's out-of-this-world charm in the original comics to a great extent!

And the actors who have participated in "Young and Dangerous" have already accumulated extremely high popularity, and this time they are teaming up to star in a movie adapted from comics. How can the thousands of spectators not look forward to it and then rush to buy tickets?

Sure enough, after the release of "Wind and Cloud", the role of Nie Feng actually caused Ekin Cheng's popularity to explode, and even Aaron Kwok, who also played the protagonist in the film, was slightly inferior. The limelight is all the time!

At that time, "The Hero of the Storm" achieved a box office record of 41.5 million Hong Kong dollars in one fell swoop, winning the box office champion of all Hong Kong films in 1998. And the film has exceeded 100 million box office in the mainland! It was a miracle at the time.

It is worth mentioning that the role of the hero in the film is played by Japanese actor Chiba Shinichi. Whether this person looks or the temperament shown in the film, it almost completely matches the characters in the original comics. In 2002, Chiba Shinichi and He Rundong, Zhao Wenzhuo and others co-starred in the TV series "Wind and Cloud". In the play, his performance is also amazing. I really don't know if he was born for this role or if this role was made for him.

wind and cloud myth

Next, let's talk about the settings in this film.

In this film, the fighting power of the mainstream characters is set above the martial arts and under the fantasy, there is a name: Gao Wu. For example, a tyrant can open mountains and crack rocks with one palm, and the soul of a juggernaut can also use twenty-three swords to kill and so on.

Other settings, such as the mythical beast fire unicorn in Lingyun Cave, and the thousand-year-old ice soul in Xiawang's mansion, are only things in mythology.

Among them, the setting of the two protagonists is even more wonderful. Although the characters of "Wind" and "Cloud" are completely different, they have complementary divinity and magic in their bones, and they complement each other. This setting has long been regarded as a classic myth in the "double male protagonist" genre!

There is also a "mythical" setting: two male protagonists plus a male supporting role and three male protagonists actually revolve around one female protagonist, and that female protagonist actually likes Feng and Yun at the same time...

This kind of setting is too bloody to look at now, but it seems very natural in this film. Whether it is foreshadowing, succession, or climax and ending, it is enough to affect the emotions of the audience.

Thinking about it carefully, it is nothing more than because the script is strong and the acting skills of the actors are also excellent. This is almost impossible to happen today.

Nowadays, it would be very awkward to call only one of the characters in other people's names. For example, calling Zhang Wuji "wu" or "ji" would be very inexplicable.

However, in "Wind and Cloud" there are many such titles, such as: cloud, wind, dream and so on. However, the audience will not feel awkward and awkward, but will have a deeper impression on the characters.

In fact, this method is like the poison that often appears in martial arts novels - arsenic. If someone takes a large amount of this substance for a long time, it is not possible to die from chronic poisoning; but if only a small amount is taken, it can cure and cure diseases. Good or bad, the key depends on how the author uses it.

Dominate the world

Speaking of application, let's talk about how Xiongba, the top leader of the World Association, uses talents.

Shortly after the opening of the film, Xiongba listened to the words of Ni Bodhisattva: "A golden lin is a thing in a pond, it will turn into a dragon when it meets the wind and clouds." Xiongba chose to believe the words of Mud Bodhisattva, firstly because he knew the ability of Mud Bodhisattva, and secondly because he was in a very confident stage. According to the plot after that, in fact, even if there is no "wind and cloud", he can dominate the world. And his forcibly recruiting "Fengyun" is tantamount to digging his own grave.

Because of the traditional roundabout way of accepting apprentices: I first send someone to kill him, then I immediately show up and kill the people I sent, and finally I euphemistically express my intention to accept him as a disciple. And Xiongba's way of accepting apprentices is: I destroy all of his disciples.

His men unscrupulously killed everyone in Huojiazhuang except Bu Jingyun, and then directly kidnapped Bu Jingyun.

However, Xiaobu Jingyun took everything in his eyes. He knew that Xiongba was his father's enemy, and the seeds of revenge had already been planted in his heart.

But Xiongba didn't care about him at all. After he was captured, he immediately started to fight: first forcibly accept him as his apprentice, and while forcibly raising him, he forcibly taught him to dispel the cloud...

From this point alone, Xiongba seemed extremely reckless and arrogant, even daring to raise a tiger by his side.

Ten years later, when Nie Feng and Bu Jingyun became successful, the mud bodhisattva confided to Xiongba again: "Nine Xiaolong's roars change the sky, and the wind and clouds will swim in shallow water." When Xiongba heard the words, although he panicked in his heart, he insisted on saying he didn't believe it. After finishing speaking, he immediately set up a plan to use his own daughter Kong Ci as the fuse to tear apart the feelings between Feng and Yun...

But this indirectly led to Kong Ci's tragic death. After escaping the murder, Feng and Yun joined forces to take revenge on Xiongba.

Xiongba is bound to regret before he dies. Just imagine, if he had paid no attention to Mud Bodhisattva's "Nine Heavens Dragon's roar is shaking, the wind and clouds will swim in shallow water." Maybe Feng and Yun will give up killing him for revenge because of his kindness of upbringing and Kong Ci.

A large part of the reason why Xiongba failed to dominate the world in the end was because he accepted these two evildoers, but the "baddies" here were created by himself.

There are many episodes in this film, but in the end, only Ekin Cheng's "Flying Bugs" sang as a classic.

In the film, he gently shakes the paper fan, is handsome and handsome, and sits side by side with Kong Ci in the sword mound in the sky of fireflies...

This song may also be the best interpretation of wind and compassion.
