I watched a circle of film reviews and didn't particularly tell my thoughts, so I wanted to talk about my feelings.
The first and most important thing is the theme. I think the loss of hearing is just an introduction to this film, a clue, not the whole point. Another dark line is also a deeper story development. In fact, it is the story between the male and female lords, the final dialogue between them, not only love, but more importantly, a story of mutual salvation .
And the most interesting point of this film, the most memorable point is that its information is given bit by bit, like a suspense film, it will continue to substitute the protagonist’s perspective to understand the whole thing, and it will be with you at the end. The protagonist acquires a new understanding of the world together.
Why do you say that, because the story about the heroine, and even the story about the hero, only in the last scene, in France, in her father's house, can the information really be pieced together.
The heroine's mother took the heroine and left her father very early. The relationship between the parents was very poor, and the heroine's mother eventually committed suicide. This must have been a very big injury to the young heroine at that time. The male lead is a single-parent family. The father has never seen him before. His mother is a nurse in the army. The male lead has been wandering with his mother since he was a child. Later, the male lead also became severely addicted to drugs. So when the heroine's mother passed away, the two men and women who were together for these years were actually a process of redeeming each other, but it was a very special way: heavy metal rock + RV life.
The characteristics of this kind of life are well demonstrated at the beginning: it looks very normal and warm, but the scars on the heroine's arm are shocking, and the obsessive-compulsive lifestyle of the hero also makes people feel the depressed energy behind. The state of their performances is also very venting.
This kind of life seems to be no problem at the beginning, after all, it is a heavy metal band, and life is pretty good. But until I really understand their stories, I will know that such a life is actually an illusion for two people. Two people encourage and supervise each other, and use a huge self-repression to resist the inner destruction of everything. Energy, using the "metal sound" of music to resist the true "metal sound" in my heart, tortured both of them all the time, never a moment of peace.
And the RV life means isolation from the crowd, isolation from the world, isolation from any influence that may destroy their depression, and isolation from any help that may transform this depression.
In this sense, loss of hearing is just an introduction.
Without hearing, the male and female leaders can each have an independent life, seek help , have the opportunity to integrate into the new environment and people, and it is also an opportunity for them to truly face the "voice of metal" in their hearts. This is why, the uncle of the mutual aid association wants the male protagonist to calm down, and why he feels that the male protagonist is desperate to heal his ears, and returning to the state of his previous life is like taking drugs, because it is indeed the case. This kind of RV life is the real "drug addiction", even if they used to live so "healthy and peaceful".
Therefore, when the male protagonist saw that the female protagonist began to subconsciously scratch his arms, he suddenly realized that the female protagonist was not so happy before, and he was the same. He must say goodbye to that kind of life, and bid farewell to the "metal sound" in his heart.
When they said to each other, "It was you who saved me", and after saying this, they really completed the redemption, because they were finally able to face the experience squarely, and then hugged and wept. They were finally able to tell that their previous life was always a struggle on the edge of life and death, and without the existence of the other party, they might have chosen to end their lives long ago.
The last piece of complete silence not only accepted the fact of hearing loss, but more importantly, eliminated the inner "metal sound" , walked out of the thorns and haze of the past, and was truly inner peace.
This time, there is no RV, no metal music, but it is a new life!
