Hong Sang-soo's usual tricks

The two-stage structure has been superbly played more than ten years ago in "The Virgin's Heart Sutra". Many people say that this new film still has a strong Rohmer style, but in my opinion, the inspiration for the two-stage concept obviously came from another French New Wave master, Renai's "Smoking/No Smoking": one sentence, one look , a thought or a gesture can create completely different possibilities in fate. This is used in the love story of this pair of artist men and women, which naturally comes naturally. However, it is a big question mark how many audiences can resonate with such overly limited coterie stories. It is believed that many of the characters and experiences of the male protagonist in the play come from Hong Sangxiu's personal experience. The news of the uproarious family change that came out earlier is a strong proof. From this point of view, the director's bold self-deprecating courage and spirit is worthy of praise. As for Kim Min-hee, this is the second film I've seen her in this year, and this one is slightly better than "Miss", at least she doesn't have to play hard characters with a straight face.
