It's pouring rain outside, and the typhoon hasn't completely passed, but the wind is gone and the rain is still falling. This has nothing to do with my movie. But why I'm writing this, I don't know. I think this is the everyday situation, the life that everyone has to experience.
Fifteen years ago, when it comes to Korean movies, I would say that Kim Ki-duk, Lee Chang-dong, and Hong Sang-soo are my favorites. Ten years ago, Lee Chang-dong, Kim Ki-duk, and Hong Sang-soo were in the seat, but now they are Hong Sang-soo, Lee Chang-dong and Kim Ki-duk. Kim Ki-deok's repeated slander, his excessive extremes, has gradually let me lose interest, Li Changdong's mint flavor, cold Miyang, and finally stagnant.
Or the relationship between age, Hong Sang-soo's repeated light and shadow, actually made me fascinated. Over the years, I have watched his movies every year, and I liked his unremarkable people and things, even those casual eyes and stupefied appearance, it seems that this is more in line with our normal life. The sun rises and sets, the clouds roll over and the clouds relax, and the tired birds return to their nests, all of which are fun.
In other words, Hong Sangxiu likes to take pictures of these embarrassing things that are boring to death. The quietness contains the secret of the passage of time, and the helplessness is wrapped in the vicissitudes of human metabolism. Most of our lives are the scenes of being held hostage by boredom. . Is it not. Bullshit, daydreaming, daydreaming, worrying, isn't it all like this? How to pass the boring days has become a problem often faced in life.
"The Day the Pig Falls into the Well", "The Discovery of Life", "The Woman by the Sea", and "The Direction of North Village" all won my heart. The others are not bad and are worth watching. Hong Shangxiu has grasped the essence of the chaos of life. In his mirror language, he slowly interprets how the time passes, how the long river follows the setting sun, and how the white snow quietly flies after "Freedom Hill". It turns out that we are all messing around, whether you are a man or a woman. No matter how high or low your status is, you are just a passing visitor in front of the passing time.
After holding it for more than a year, on this day of autumn wind and autumn rain, I thought of Hong Sangxiu's "Right Now" (2015). The water source is only 30 kilometers away from Seoul. The sushi restaurant in the film, Xian Chunzhu (Zheng Zaiyong ornaments) said to Yin Xijing (Kim Minhee), "It's a little stuffy inside, I want to get some air outside." The subtext seems to be saying, I'm looking for a good place to breathe. After a little taste, this sentence has a sense of rhythm and is poetry.
It turns out that our life is so dull, and we all want to go outside to blow the air, find a good place, and breathe. But Hong Sang-soo's goog is that all personnel and affairs are in his mirror language, without a trace, quietly come and go, without taking away a cloud. At the end of the film, Yin Xijing came out alone to watch the movie, facing the fluttering snowflakes, and went straight home, or returned to her so-called studio. And director Ham Chun-soo, who had an overnight encounter with her, has returned to his home in Seoul by train.
This is the life of those who want to break through, but have to return after a lot of tossing. 120 minutes of light and shadow, the director specially split it into two parts, the first part is "right then, wrong then", and the second part "right then, wrong then". People are superfluous, under the same time and space, different artistic conceptions, two necessary expressions. The director likes to have some kind of real memory in the film, such as his mention of Gangwon-do, which is reminiscent of his "The Power of Gangwon-do". Xi Jing said that she used to be a model, which happened to be the experience of the actress herself. It's a conversation that's easy to savor.
I like works that are interesting , whether it is literature, art, or movies, things that are interesting are memorable, and there is often a sense of humor, which is an innate ability that not everyone has. On the contrary, there are not many people who are interested in life, and works with interest in life are even rarer. Life interest is a kind of precision. For example, the life interest shown in the text must be precise, rather than free and generalized. Almost all the paintings that have been circulated have their own unique interest. In other words, life interest is a manifestation of vitality.
A serious person will not be liked, and a life that follows the rules will not be admired. The same is true of movies, which are rigid in their rigid images, lacking in vitality and, of course, less interesting. Therefore, the biggest characteristic of Hong Sang-soo's films, and the biggest feeling to me over the years, is the fun of life. In the second part of "Right Now, Wrong Then", the director used Jiujin to confess to her that you are so beautiful, I am in love with you, and I really want to marry you, but I can't, because I am married and have two children. This is really daring to a pair of strangers who have just met.
Next, he was in a daze like self-pity, which is normal. But she will still be moved, even if the future is not possible. There is no possibility, why she is still moved, this is also human nature. It is human nature. She said that in fact, I have no friends of the opposite sex, my parents have long since divorced, and my father is in Seoul. The director always likes to come out and smoke a cigarette for a while, Xi Jing suddenly thought that she had a date in the evening and said she must go. The director agreed to go after hesitation, and Xi Jing took him to the coffee shop of "Poet and Farmer" to have dinner together. During this time, Xi Jing was so drunk that she went to the back room to doze off. The director continued to drink with her two girlfriends.
The director who had already drank too much in front of him would make a fool of himself if he drank like this again. He fell to the ground first, frightening Xiuying and the others, and then he got up and said that he was teasing them, and they were relieved and thought the director was funny. Then they really opened their eyes. The director said that it was hot, so he took off his clothes and stripped everything from the sweater to the panties. This time, they were so frightened that they turned their heads and stuck them on the wall.
This is real life. He was drunk, the heating was so hot, and he was dizzy, thinking about taking off his clothes, and it became a normal thing. He just said that in front of the two women, it was a bit embarrassing, but when he was drunk, there was nothing in his eyes. They, he only Xi Jing. Next, he, dressed in normal clothes, entered the room and woke her up. This shows that he took off his clothes just now, or deliberately frightened them with the strength of alcohol, so as to drive them away. He wants to accompany Xi Jing well. There is no footage of sending her home in the first part. This time, at her request, he sent her home, and it seemed that he was awake.
Xi Jing's mother called and said that Xiuying had called, and the director was so rude that she stripped naked in front of them. Yes. Xi Jing was very happy. She asked him, why don't you take off in front of me, hahaha, maybe Xiuying will sue you.

When she went in to watch the movie, he came in and greeted her reluctantly. Interestingly, she wanted to follow him, but she still sat there blankly without moving, because there was no possibility of continuing, and she woke up overnight, sorry. Then stop it and close it when you see it. Life is always full of regrets, and risks are everywhere, so you can't just follow a person casually.
Ordinary life, everyday scenes, photographing our deja-vu life, which resonates in our hearts, this is Hong Sang-soo's high quality. Everyday is mundane, and there is nothing new under the sun, so why do you have to deliberately hunt for novelties and play thrillers.
But he is not an authentic Rohmer, at least he doesn't ramble, it's just right, and the personnel are always just right. He is not Yasujiro Ozu either. The still and steady shots after "Late Spring" are in sharp contrast with his films before "When My Father Was Live", from caring about the sufferings of the people at the bottom to the taste of eating and drinking tea and rice.
Of course, Hong Shangxiu also had a transformation process. In the first few movies, he also wrote the script of the eight classics, and later it was a 20-page story outline, and then there was even less. But he is different from Wong Kar Wai in that he The dialogue is required to be extremely precise, so he no longer uses non-professional actors, but professional actors. After the sixth film, he started using push-pull long shots, which only had 30 shots in total. In the same way, the director must control all the shots, and the photography can only follow his ideas. Professional actors make his editing easy.
In fact, it is no exaggeration to say that Hong Sangxiu created a self-contained film model, or that he used his life philosophy to make the same film that deconstructed his life. In other words, like the films of Woody Allen, Rohmer and Ozu, they all have their own awesome movie trajectories. And Hong Sangxiu's films are the mirror language of oriental modern films, which are very enjoyable, always mixed with a little helpless sigh.
In his film, the intersection between people seems to be accidental, but it is inevitable. Like this one, because the organizer of the water source notified the wrong time, he was asked to come here one day earlier, and the organizer received the girl Paula , waiting for him downstairs, he told himself that I should be careful this day, she is very thin, but beautiful. He came down, and the two played at the skating rink for a while. Paula said that I like your movie very much, and it gave me strength in loneliness. In the first part, the director praised her paintings full of color blocks, but the second part was not so good. At the end of the first part of the film seminar, the host's question made him annoyed, and he politely left the stage ahead of schedule, ready to go bye bye, but Xiuying, an admirer of his films, came out and caught up to give her a copy of what she wrote. Paula caught up, he scolded the host for ignorance, and said Paula, you are a good person, try to find the difference in an instant, there is always a solution to things, even for fear.
In fact, this is exactly what Xiuying said to him. The second part omitted this link. Paula and the host took him out with ease. The snow fell and Xijing came over. At this time, the poetic mood appeared naturally.
The whole film has no major ups and downs, the light and shadow that turns everyday life into fun, the moving scenes that touch our heartstrings, and the somewhat melancholy and amusing music, which is really refreshing. Right at this time, wrong at that time, or wrong at that time, right at this time, this is a kind of philosophical metaphor, people and things in the world are only relative, not absolute. The difference is because of the different perspectives and values, not the difference in personnel itself. In fact, it is just a statement and a clever comparison.
The crisp sound of the bell in the temple seems to reflect the changes of the world on earth. The expression of the director and Xi Jing, the two parts before and after, suddenly sublimated from a general praise to a confession of love, which is the beauty of the passage of time.
Just like in real life, Hong Shangxiu really fell in love with Jin Minxi because of this movie. This extramarital affair caused a lot of uproar in South Korea. He said that he liked the casual look of Jin Minxi. After that, Kim Min-hee took over the filming of "Miss".
As the director said, a lot of things, including making movies, were just an accident for me. He likes Chekhov, Hemingway, especially Cezanne's paintings, whose artistic conception often makes him taste and ponder. What's interesting is that after the first part of the film was filmed, it was shown to the actors to let them feel the unfinished feelings of the first part and imagine the possible overtones of the second part, because the actors did not know how the second part was shot. .
Hong Shangxiu uses such a delicate and unique vision to activate the situation that we are familiar with in life with his subtle and silent mirror words. The two parts before and after the film are not the assumption of "Lola Run", he doesn't need it, he just uses two different mirror words to extend his ideas. It seems to be saying that life will always encounter a wonderful intersection, but for various reasons, we cannot continue this wonderful life. What a helpless life.
