This is the first time I have seen a film made by the director, who is separated from the traditional Chinese classical background, and made in Western France. For a Chinese student studying in France, it truly shows the life of an international student. A western single mother with a son's family, an international student working as a nanny. The story is in the same style as the director has always been. The story seems bland, there is no sharp dialogue, no gorgeous scene arrangement, and the soft music gives people the most real conflict.
Been thinking about the meaning of the red balloon.
As far as I am concerned, Director Hou did not specifically refer to it. It is not only like Song Fang wandering outside, but also implies Simon's innocence, and at the same time, it is also the hardship of a single mother with her children alone.
