Why I love Buffett

Accidentally found a documentary about Warren Buffett in Tencent, and clicked it without hesitation. The first time I learned about Grandpa Warren was watching "Snowball", and I fell in love with this person at first sight (love at first sight).

He is very intelligent, but very humble and studious, and he has read a lot of books and materials at a young age.

He is sensitive to numbers, tireless in his career, and likes to read financial reports with a ruler and pen at the age of seventy (I just have a deep fascination with this retro behavior).

He has accumulated wealth but hardly misuses it. He lives in that small house of more than one million yuan all his life and establishes charitable funds.

He is low-key and reserved, rarely showing off his achievements in front of the media.

He's focused and not so gregarious, 100% invested in what he loves.

Watching the documentary was also touched by his love with his wife Susie and his friendship with Charles.

Grandpa Warren is a very self-aware person. He repeatedly talks about his strengths and limitations, and knows how these people around him can help him make up for his shortcomings and achieve greater success. This makes me think - most great leaders have a terrible sense of self-knowledge and a sense of purpose and mission. They can have a very strong purpose to form a family, a business team and even a circle of friends, but they are not necessarily utilitarian.

A strong sense of purpose but not utilitarian is a great thing,

Like a woman with a beautiful appearance but a clean body and a high moral character, it is generally fascinating.

Recommend this documentary, and Warren's biography.

Becoming Warren Buffett quotes

  • Howard Buffett: When he wrote the letter to us, he put something in that letter that was incredibly important to me, which was exactly how our foundation behaves, which is, if you're gonna try to bat a thousand, you won't do very many things that are important. But if you're willing to basically strike out a few times, you can really change something big.

  • Warren Buffett: In my entire lifetime, everything that I've spent will be quite a bit less than one percent of everything I've made. The other 99% plus will go to others, because it has no utility to me.
