The success of this film is that it is unpretentious and down-to-earth. The whole story revolves around the bathhouse in the old Beijing Hutong. The old man played by Zhu Xu has read in this bathhouse all his life. The old bathhouse encountered new problems, the death of the old man, the renovation of the urban area, and the need to demolish the bathhouse. Slowly, the bathhouse that has been passed down for several generations will eventually disappear. The film itself was shot more than 20 years ago, and the smell of old movies from the end of the last century came to me. A movie like this is suitable for a weekend with the sun, having a cup of tea, being alone, feeling quietly, and slowly reminiscing. The time that is gone can only come back to you and me.
