Since it is advertised as a historical film, try to conform to the actual history instead of deliberately changing it.
My knowledge of history is very limited, but I read the commentary of [Bedtime News], and I agree with most of their team's views, and reiterate a few of the points that have been tampered with:
1. In the movie, the "Central Army" is infinitely exalted and slandered the "Hubei Local Army", which is maliciously inciting regional contradictions to set off the tall image of the so-called "Central Army".
2. The geographical environment and material conditions are fabricated, which is a very bad cultural destructive behavior for historical films. For example, during the battle of the four-line warehouse, many places were changed randomly.
The most important thing is that the guarding battle of the Four Elements Warehouse is essentially using the soldiers' lives to sell their misfortunes in order to get the intervention of international forces. However, this film is a one-off, focusing on the scene of rushing, ignoring the corruption and ugly intentions behind it, and taking it out of context. News pays attention to truth, objectivity and impartiality, and so should "historical films".
3. The movie uses many scenes to describe the Shanghai citizens and war refugees hiding in the concession, thinking they are indifferent bystanders. Seeing the heroic battle of the 88th Division, they improved their ideological awareness overnight (a bit like the practice method of fantasy novels) , became an enthusiastic participant in the Anti-Japanese War.
But in fact, after the 128th Anti-Japanese War in 1932, most of the citizens of Shanghai supported the Chinese army, and there was absolutely no need for the 88th Division to mobilize once. The Shanghai Chamber of Commerce also provided excess supplies to the 800 warriors.
The film's description of the indifference of Shanghai citizens and Zhabei refugees is a typical example of replacing the people's view of history with a heroic view of history. Even if other parts of the movie are in line with history, this mistake alone will cause the movie to become a "fantasy movie".
There are also many places where the logic of the plot is unreasonable. You can check it out for details: [Bedtime News 158] It is obviously a fantasy movie with a heavy taste, so why does "Eight Hundred" call itself a historical blockbuster
