Nursing home? Kindergarten for the elderly.

I just finished watching "Tokyo Story", and I just remembered that this one also seems to be about family affection. There are some plots in this that remind me of the last old age chapter of the domestic documentary "For the First Time" that I watched last year. It was also an old man who took care of his wife who was paralyzed in bed for many years, and I watched it with tears. In fact, caring for a seriously ill elderly person is a very sad thing. We all know that his/her illness is very serious. No matter how careful care and efforts are, the status quo is basically maintained, and the patient's condition will hardly change. It's better, thinking about it this way makes me feel very depressed. I know a young man (a boy who is usually heartless on weekdays) who came back to visit the old man at home when he was seriously ill and left within a few days, because he really couldn't bear to see the old man at home who was seriously ill.

1. The old gentleman Emilio used to be a bank manager, and now his children are sent to a nursing home when he is old. When he first entered the nursing home, there was a clip where he recalled the scene when he entered the kindergarten. He was at a loss and scared.

The elderly wait for their children to visit, much like children wait for their parents to come to the kindergarten to pick them up.

Nursing homes are like kindergartens, and there are various courses in them. But what is special is that many elderly people are not physically fit. They either do not attend classes, or they can't help dozing off in class.

2. There are various real-life problems of the elderly in this nursing home, such as Alzheimer's disease, harassment of young female teachers by older hooligans, and insufficient children's visits.

3. The scene where an old lady feeds the old gentleman reminds me of a relative's house like this. The old gentleman had Alzheimer's disease. He was a policeman when he was young, but when he was confused, he looked like a child. He can't take care of himself in many things, and he can't recognize people. In life, he is completely taken care of by the old lady.

4. Ironically, Emilio saw his favorite swimming pool when he visited the nursing home, and was looking forward to going for a swim when he came in. As a result, the staff directly said that this was for the children who were going to send the elderly in, but they didn't actually use it much.

5. Everyone will be old, and be more concerned about the elderly around you.

    Child Dolores: [pause] You cheater.

  • Antonia: When you see a gas station, we stop and I get some water to take the pills.

Miguel: What are you saying, Antonia? We said no medicines! We are not going to be slaves of old age.

Antonia: Yes, but I brought only the constipation pills and the circulation ones. I have not brought the stomach ones, or the sugar ones, or the arthritis ones...
