A Story of Hearts, the Hidden Plot of Flowers and Alice

I have always liked this film very much. Shunji Iwai has injected a lot of warm things into it, including first love, inspiration, growth, family, and even many questions and hidden plots. If you watch it several times, I believe you will gain a lot.

The first was the heart A. Miyamoto picked up the heart A at the beach, and Alice also picked it up. Then Alice made a joke, and Miyamoto thought that Alice was trying to confess. But we know that Miyamoto's one is not Alice's at all, and Alice is not the kind of girl who plays tricks, but why does Alice feel that the red heart A is very important, and suddenly burst into tears, so sad. Compared with Alice's independent and sunny personality, this is too sudden. She can be said to be able to put it down to Miyamoto, and she is not as invested as Hana. (By the way, at the beginning, Alice liked tall, cool and secure boys. Didn’t Miyamoto give up to Hana as a younger brother?)

Then, we know that Alice actually has a real name (Arisugawa), "Alice" is her nickname, why is Alice called "Alice"?

Finally, the scene where Alice and Dad are in the park is actually very important. It can be seen that Alice likes her father very much, especially when she said goodbye to her father at the end, Alice was full of reluctance and cherishing. Alice learned to play poker and Chinese "I love you" from her dad. Alice also mentioned that they had played poker together at the beach before, but Dad said he forgot.

This is a very short and small plot, and Shunji Iwai took it in one stroke, but it reminds us that Miyamoto's poker was lost when Alice and her parents went to the beach when she was a child. "The whole set was blown away by the wind. ', that's what Alice and her dad said when they were chatting in the park. Dad has long forgotten, but Alice is still fresh in her memory, why? I think that time was the happiest time for Alice, she still had a complete home with her parents.

And the back of the red heart A is the pattern of Alice in Wonderland (shake it, you can see Alice and the rabbit are kissing, it is definitely not the boy and girl kissing spread on the Internet, what is a metaphor for the love of Miyamoto, it is nonsense).

And when Alice's parents divorced, in order to commemorate that period of happiness, she commemorated the deck of cards she played with her parents and the deck of cards with Alice on the back, and Arisukawa named herself Alice.

  • Setsuko "Alice" Arisugawa: I saw 'Hannibal' on satellite last night.

    Hana: So did I.

Setsuko "Alice" Arisugawa: I was scared.

    Hana: Isn't he creepy?

Setsuko "Alice" Arisugawa: Yeah. Don't you think real people are scarier... than zombies and ghosts?
