Alright, back to Haeundae. Even though he is a disaster film, his portrayal of the characters' emotions is very delicate (this is also related to the general drama style of Korean actors). It can be said that it is even better than disaster films like "The Day After Tomorrow", which may also be caused by values and emotional tendencies, and they prefer emotional ones. It does a lot of foreshadowing again, and the film is about 140 minutes long. The first 90 minutes are paving the way, and there is no shortage of humorous pictures. I found that in the big Korean productions (at least disaster films), they like to use verbal cues. For example, in "Subway Horror", the subway station master said to the policeman who was addicted to the past and was desperate to catch thieves: "There is always a subway that can't stop." As a result, the policeman really got into a car that was captured by terrorists. The subway that was hijacked and bombed was hijacked. In order to keep everyone alive, the police drove to the terminal together with the subway that could not stop. And in "Haeundae", Hyungsik's rival in love (MS is called Manmin) said to him after beating Hyungsik: "Don't let me see you again, if you let me see you again, one of us will surely die. When the tsunami came, Hyung-sik, as a fire-fighting lifeguard, went to the people he liked, Xi-mi, and his rival, Wan-min, but sacrificed himself to save Wan-min. He cut the ropes on himself so that all nations could be saved. When he smiled and waved to Ximei in the sea, the smile was really heart-wrenching, and then a huge wave hit, and Hyung-sik died.
The film also uses a lot of hints. For example, near the end of the film, a single shoe floats on the water, implying the death of Dongchun's mother, who hates iron and loves her son with all her heart. Dongchun's mother could not have died in the tsunami, but because she suddenly thought of buying a pair of leather shoes for Dongchun (the first half of the film talks about shoes), she gave up her plan to go wild, but she didn't. Able to escape the tsunami, lost his life. It can be said that some people should hate the useless little gangster Dongchun for this reason, but at the end of the film, Dongchun hugged his mother's portrait and cried aloud. That kind of sincere pain will really make the audience very uncomfortable. These kinds of things can really earn enough tears from the audience.
It also has one more feature. The first is very long (of course, it is not boring), and the next half an hour, emotional explosion, disaster, Tao Sheng, life saving, human nature, emotion... It is overwhelming, often making people cry. For example, a little girl on the helicopter's lifeguard yelled at mom, then first uncle, and then dad. It was so loud that people couldn't help crying and grief. And the soundtrack of the movie also sounded just right, the little girl shouted silently, and everyone cried silently to the relatives on the helicopter rescue platform. Let you empathize with the power to grieve together.
Personally, I haven't seen such a powerful movie in a long time. Having this feeling may also be after watching "Breathless". I'm not a professional, so I can't appreciate and feel the charm and depth of the film from the technical aspects such as the set, the use of the lens, the scene transition, and the door. However, I still like this movie very much, it shocked me and made me feel that there is always human nature and a strong vitality.
