Today I'm going to talk about an old movie. Speaking of old age, it is also a movie after the millennium.
The film "Balzac and the Little Tailor" was released in 2002. It was starring the most popular young meat at that time - Zhou Xun, Chen Kun and Liu Ye. The director is French-Chinese, the actors are Chinese, they speak Sichuan dialect, and they tell the story of going up the mountain to the countryside.
In China in the 1970s, educated youth Luo Ming (played by Chen Kun) and Ma Jianling (played by Liu Ye) went to a small mountain village in western Hunan to receive re-education by poor and lower-middle peasants, but the poor life in the countryside gradually made them tired. They meet the little tailor (played by Zhou Xun) in the village, and the lively and cheerful little tailor brings light to their stagnant life. And they also found a box of so-called "forbidden books". After that, the only joy in their lives was to peek at a book in the box - a novel by Balzac. Banned books made the fantasy world of the boy and the little tailor suddenly open, and slowly the two fell in love with the little tailor at the same time, and the fire of their love burned hotter and hotter.
I don't know if everyone has such a problem. Once the love line appears in the work, the final eye will focus on the ending of the love line. And when I saw the story of the educated youth going to the mountains and the countryside, I felt a drop in my heart and felt uneasy, for fear of seeing pictures of life and death.
But the description of everything in this film is light, there is no heart-piercing claim to revolution or freedom, there is no separation of life and death, probably because the director is still living in France, everything becomes romantic, there is no snitching, asking The bad guys who put people to death are also kind and gentle about love. In particular, some small episodes end in a cute and playful way.
The first time Luo Ming and Ma Jianling met the little tailor was in the pool. They caught a glimpse of the girls bathing and frolic. The first time they saw it, it was eternal. The two silly boys were stunned and shocked. Whether it is the current Zhou Xun or the previous Zhou Xun, he is so agile that he does not need lines at all.
One of them is passionate and unrestrained, the other is silently guarding, the other is physical lingering, and the other is spiritual watching and caring. In my opinion, the little tailor's desire for Balzac and freedom and independence must be the subtle influence of Ma Jianling. When Luo Ming was out of the city, Ma Jianling did not take advantage of the dangers of others, but silently guarded her, sucked out the blood shed by the poisonous snake bite for her, read to her every day, accompanied her to abortion, and sold her beloved violin. And when he sucked out the poisonous blood for her, he trembled so badly, the little tailor asked, "It's not you who was hurt, why are you more afraid than me?"
I was thinking that that was the closest Ma Jianling had come to a confession, but he still didn't say anything, just kept silent.
Fortunately, he did not say that when he enthusiastically suggested to read Lu Xun to the little tailor, the little tailor said that she only liked Balzac.
But I am sure that she fell in love with Ma Jianling later, and he was the one who really changed her.
In the end she decided to go, leave them both, and go to the city to find herself, because Balzac said that the beauty of a woman is priceless.
At the end, Luo Ming said to Ma Jianling, "I know you like her too."
Ma Jianling said: "I just love her in another way."
