Two-way love is the rarest

The two young actors are the first gifts I will meet in 2021. I gave the movie full marks, 80% of which were for the acting skills of the two. All, all footage, from the point of view of an average viewer, is almost impeccable. I understand very well that for two-star and three-star audiences, the movie editing is really sloppy! So I bought the original script on Amazon that night, and understood the details that I didn't understand.

After reading it for the first time, I was in a fog, did Birdy really take this relationship seriously?

The second time I watched it, I noticed that the first time they met in the pool, the two actually peeked at each other and had a good impression of each other (at this time, it was an instinctive attraction, but it was not yet love at first sight). The following plot immediately jumped to the scene where a few people in Ah Han's dormitory went out to meet girls in the middle of the night, and later Birdy was whipped by the housekeeper.

When I watched it for the first time, I thought it was a bit strange. Why did Birdy let the housekeeper catch him on purpose? It turned out that he wanted to kill the chickens as an example, prompting the housekeeper to strengthen the sleep inspection. The sweetest part was all the time when the two went to Taipei together. Whether it was A-Han’s uncontrollable stealing kiss in the solar system, or Birdy borrowing Sanmao’s quotations and plays to make a secret confession (Birdy was not completely asleep in the script, he found that A-Han had stolen a kiss from him. So the later confession was very special. Clearly, unfortunately Ah-Han is only a hindsight), and the two share a headset in the car (so Ah-Han was so jealous when he saw Birdy assigning Banban the headset)... All these events, It is the sweetest part of two people's two-way love - the part of love that slowly determines each other's sincerity.

It is worth noting that when the two were in Taipei. When Ah Han saw the roadside full of banners and proposals, he said something like: "Why are they so unhappy?". Birdy replied: "I don't know." There was a sentence in the script at this time, "The school is like a natural protection shelter, and the children in the school have no idea what kind of subversion has taken place in the outside world." In fact, the school is the epitome of society. The instructors who are too strict and authoritarian, and the bullying of LGBTQ students by classmates all reflect the ubiquitous repression in Taiwanese society before the understanding of strictness. The number of banners shows how much resentment and appeal the people have. For those who are interested, you can take a look at "Back to School" starring Zeng Jinghua, which describes in more detail the situation in which everyone was in danger during the White Terror period in Taiwan. "Normal people" lived on thin ice, not to mention the completely stigmatized gay community at the time.

The script mentioned that "everything has changed since Birdy was besieged by the bus and the others." The bus threatened Birdy, "How did Ahan become Homo? Who is on top and who is on the bottom?" Birdy began to think about the pressure the two would face if they came out. Will A-Han be bullied to the point of being hurt like his junior brother? Will they be expelled? What about each other's families? He really wanted to protect him. Due to editing problems in the film, Birdy's attitude change is somewhat inexplicable. After that, the liking of Banban was more like an attempt to confirm his sexuality.

Previous incidents such as Birdy saving his junior, refuting the instructor on the spot, and saving Qi Jiawei all show that he is a very brave and just person. On the contrary, A-Han is hesitant every time he is faced with such unfair events. But when faced with love, the attitude of the two completely changed. My understanding is that Birdy is someone who thinks more and more delicately. So he would ask Ahan in the solar system "What will you do if I die?". When he noticed the love between the two, he had already imagined the pressure that this love would face. From the loss of the military song competition and the arrest of Qi Jiawei in the street, he felt that this era has not changed at all, and it is difficult for him and Ah Han to have a future. On the other hand, this is Ah Han's first love. Will the first love really go around? Moreover, Birdy is always close to him, this feeling can really make people in love crazy (I feel that Ahan is Sun Aries rising Taurus, his mind is direct, and his personality is simple and kind). So basically, the character setting makes sense. From provocation in the early stage, to secret protection in the later stage - going to A-Han's house to lie and let the other party's family confirm that they are all "normal" heterosexuals; worrying about his safety after A-Han almost came out, he has been following behind. And, a classic desire drama that is enough to be included in the history of Chinese films: when Ahan started to wash his face, every pore of Birdy was shaking, which was the most primitive attraction of the body. And the gentle knife from the male fans-the one who can kiss back after shooting is definitely true love.

Compared with the theme song "The Name Engraved in Your Heart", Cai Lanqin's "This World" breaks my heart even more. The lyrics can be seen as a call to the open society at the beginning of the martial law. It can also be seen as the voice of sexual minorities, "Our world is not as bad as you said, why should you feel emotional?" In 2021, has society really changed in (East Asia)? Taiwan allows same-sex marriage, then what? What about the mainland, Southeast Asia, Japan and South Korea? Even in the United States, southern states still have very conservative attitudes toward homosexuality. Do homosexuals still deserve to go to hell and be burned to death in religious countries? Is homosexuality still humiliating and unacceptable to the family? The acceptance that many people say is just to show their openness. How can people who are unacceptable to sibling love and transnational love really understand the raw throbbing and warmest love between same-sex bodies? True love doesn't happen too many times in a lifetime. That's why I watched the movie three times in two days, and once the script was looking for a two-way love between Ah Han and Birdy. I want to make sure that they both love each other, not Ahan's unrequited love.

A little hope and a little disappointment in this world
I always think so
There is a little joy and a little sadness in this world
no one can escape
our world
Not as bad as you say
why should you feel
with your care and all your love
Add some beautiful colors to the world

Let's talk about the controversial character setting. Birdy's character is the most dangerous and charming, and Banban said he is like a firework, lively, dazzling and fleeting. Bird imagery is indeed abundant in modern literature/film. At least after watching the movie, I thought of Bai Xianyong's "The Evil Son" - all the gay men who gather in Taipei Park are like wandering birds. In "The True Story of Ah Fei", Ah Fei, who has never received maternal love, seems to be unrestrained but has drifted all his life. Or the nihilistic dilemma facing every middle-class family in Birdman. The most direct symbol of birds is also "freedom", including the two birds they saw on the cruise to Penghu, one closely following the other. Ah-Han and Birdy hoped that too. There are actually a lot of details in the movie. When the two shouted and vented at the woodcutter, Birdy's uniform bag drew a bird with a white pen and wrote a word "forbearance". He was enduring the repressed and loveless family atmosphere, he was enduring the love that soon spewed out of A-Han, including the fact that he was definitely in pain when facing Banban, which also required patience. They can be good friends, but love requires other emotions, tolerance, desire and willfulness. He knew that he was sorry for Banban.

Banban's characters are richer in the script. The part where she tried to tease A-Han was deleted from the movie. When A-Han proposed to recognize her as his godsister, he thought it was because A-Han liked her. Think about him first, ask what kind of girl A-Han likes, and he can help him introduce it. After getting the negative answer, he asked Ah Han, "What do you think of me?" She's never bad, but she's the most tragic one in this love that doesn't belong to her (fraudulent marriage really shouldn't be). In middle age, she only has a well-behaved daughter and a broken heart. It's not hard to imagine how much rumors she would suffer after being dropped out of school and divorced in that era of conservative folk customs. But she didn't hate A-Han, she just said that she deserved it, and that she would never have tried (breaking Birdy straight).

Actually from a deeper perspective. Ahan and Birdy love tragedy also has [absolute patriarchy] family oppression. The fathers of both are typical Chinese fathers born in the 1950s and 1960s. They believe that providing food and clothing for the children and providing financial resources to the family fulfills the father's responsibilities. In fact, they don't know how to love at all, which is also an important source of Ahan and Birdy's long-term distress. A-Han's father only regarded him as a tool, hoping that he would go to college and have a good girlfriend like his brother, but he didn't ask his son what he liked, and he was not happy at school. And what makes a good girlfriend? Is there a perfect marriage partner? Birdy's family is even more outrageous. Judging from his father being the chairman of the parents' committee, Birdy's family's economic conditions are very good. He also said that there are three sisters, and I personally guess that the family has a tendency to prefer sons to daughters (maybe this is also the pressure of Birdy's later marriage, after all, he is the only son in the family). Hearing his son making a mistake, his dad was able to break a stool in the school office, showing the capital [patriarchy]. Birdy's mother is not mentioned at all in the movie, guessing that it may be dead or divorced? In "The Bad Boy", A Long and A Qing faced the oppression of their father all their lives, and hoped to get their father's forgiveness. Perhaps the reconciliation of the family is the pain in the hearts of all sexual minorities.

I have never done anything wrong, you have never been to my world, but you imagine my world is ridiculous and ridiculous.

The ending in the script is actually more happy. Birdy, 30 years later, directly holds Ah Han's hand, indicating that they will enjoy this love that is 30 years late. At the end of the film, the middle-aged actor turns directly to the young Ah Han and Birdy. Ah Han is still carrying a guitar, and they will go to Taipei together, or go abroad, one to study music, the other to study movies. Two good friends (also lovers), one crazy and one normal. They could have enjoyed it all, and it was the family and the times that made them miss three decades. In real life, many people miss their whole life.

Surprised by the superb acting skills of the two young actors, they showed the "temptation - determination - love - jealousy - anger - possessiveness - lust - love but not - heartbreak" in love. What about 'Adele's Life' after exploring love? Classes and trivial routines consume love. "Love of Siam" stops at the touch of the first love, omits the wildest original desire in love, and maintains the innocence in love. "Engraved" expresses only love, complete love. What exactly is love? Can we control our love? Can we perceive the love of a loved one for us? Do you support LGBT love? Are you misunderstanding them? ...... The two actors themselves are straight, and meeting Chen Haosen and Zeng Jinghua is my very lucky first surprise in 2021.

I am writing this movie review, hoping to tell my fans and friends some important details that have been deleted from the movie. Also to remind ourselves that the next time we meet true love (the word true love has become so tacky, almost all film and television works make us mistakenly believe that every love experience is true love. But as we grow older, it becomes more and more difficult to be moved and action is the truth), Profiter du moment!
