About understanding

Good movies are hard to come by. I watched the beginning of the movie "Sunny and Rainy". The title is about the parallel life of Zheng Tai and the beauty. I really can't imagine the intersection between the two, so I almost missed it. Until Miss Mushroom recommended it to me a few days ago. I found the film and watched it again.
Miss Mushroom recommended to me that this is a story about two strangers who break into each other's lives and influence each other and then leave, and the two may never meet again in the future. I'm curious how a person can intrude into someone else's life. Think about the strangers we meet every day, not to mention that even acquaintances are difficult to walk in. There is a kind of contradiction in the communication between people. We all want to understand each other, and we all want each other to understand, but still no one understands the other. Is it so difficult to understand each other? Yes, that's for sure. So in my opinion the real character of this movie is the opposite of what it looks like. It seems that Eleanor is an adult woman and Reggie is an underage child. In essence, this relationship is dominated by Reggie. Eleanor is about acceptance, and she happens to be a good receiver. Essentially Reggie sees everything, which is what I mean by understanding, Eleanor says he wants the babysitter to eat together at the table, he says babysitter likes to eat at his place, he says to Eleanor you're imposing your personal ethics and expectations on her body. Reggie understands everyone, including himself, and can see that he makes decisions about his own life. I would say that many people can't do this even at the age of 20, and he is only 12 years old. Even if the character is a Genius, IQ can be born, but I believe that emotional intelligence is mostly formed the day after tomorrow. Therefore, Reggie has a super high comprehension ability, and there is no adult fortification, this story can unfold naturally.
So how do they interact with each other? It's a long story, and the whole movie should be devoted to it. So I won't take this as the focus. But this theme is also what I have always believed. Interacting with people is a process of mutual healing, and there is no need to take strangers as a premise like a movie, but strangers will make all this more dramatic. Everyone will bring some influence to others. Just like what Miss Mushroom said, we should leave something to others. When we think of this person in the future, the most important thing is to think of the changes this person has brought us. I totally agree with that. Always believe that we have the power to change people, and we also have the power to change ourselves.
I saw a sentence today, the reason why you are tired is that you only have constant self-blame in your mind, and no immediate change in action. I saw this sentence twice in one day. In the movie, Eleanor quarreled and broke up with her boyfriend, lost her job, her father was sick and hospitalized, betrayed and ignored by her mother and her father's brother, and after a series of changes, she decided to leave. Go west and maybe never come back. Miss Mushroom asked me, do you think the boy likes the nanny of the female lead or will also like the next nanny? The latter one in the movie certainly won't, I say, she's not a very good recipient. But if it refers to the encounter in the future, it will not be in the short term, because it is difficult to get out of a relationship in the short term, and this relationship is suspected of love and has nothing to do with love. But definitely in the future. You will love a lot of people in your life.
Besides, Reggie is a genius. A musical prodigy, or maybe a math prodigy, skips grades with ease, reads a lot of books, plays the violin perfectly, and writes scores. As if this is the life of a genius. But this kind of life is one-way, only his understanding of others, lack of others' understanding of him. In today's Chinese class, the teacher talked about the fact that many very talented people took the road of suicide. Ask if we understand. Some people say they understand and others say they don't. One classmate said that when the spiritual world of these geniuses conflicted with the real society, they chose this way to get rid of them. I think the conflict she's talking about is understanding, the lack of takers in this society. Some people are excluded from society because they are not understood. Although society is run by the majority, it is the people who are not understood who really drive social change and progress. So I understand some geniuses, like the history geniuses a few days ago, but I don't mean suicide because of unthinkable thoughts. Lin Jiawen said in his suicide note, "Please give me the most basic respect if you feel that you cannot understand me if you know the news of my death." When a person does not pursue material things and is not satisfied spiritually, the reality is obstructed and the spirit is oppressed, then I really can't think of the meaning of living. "Parents are born to the body", if you say that, is one's life lived for parents? I think that's what Reggie is saying, you impose your personal ethics and expectations on others.
Finally, when it comes to the mutual change of the two people, it may be that the two people pick up their own music again. If you don't show your talent well, you're committing a crime, Reggie said. This is the one sentence that touched me the most in the whole movie. It coincides with the "Change of Seasons" I watched two days ago. It was also a movie about music, everyone has their own talents, maybe it is suitable for playing the violin, maybe it is suitable for the drum set, maybe it is suitable for writing music even if the rhythm is poor. There is no need to display your talents for the sake of other people's opinions, including parents, parents who love their children will eventually understand their children. Because we have the right to choose our own life. We have to do what we love, if not genius, then live with heart, even if we feel a little lonely at times. To seek change like Eleanor, change is risky, not necessarily what we want to do, everything will be fine again. But what to do without risk? The teacher in "Change of Seasons" said to a father, you see, even if you open a grocery store safely now, who knows if it goes out of business. The fun of life also lies in the existence of risks, isn't it?

Like Sunday, Like Rain quotes

  • Reggie: I guess right around 4 I figured out I was sort of a math prodigy, solving pretty intricate math problems.

    Eleanor: Like What.

Reggie: Multiplying 7 to 10 digit numbers in my head. I could give you the cube root of pretty much any number.

    Eleanor: Like Rainman.

Reggie: No, he was an autistic savant. As you can tell, I'm alert, extroverted, affable and articulate...

    Eleanor: Of course.

Reggie: ...and not to mention devilishly handsome.

    Eleanor: Not to mention.

  • Eleanor: What was the name of that piece you wrote for the recital?

    Reggie: Like Sunday, Like Rain.

    Eleanor: So beautiful.

Reggie: I'll write a part for the cornet.
