When I first met you, it was like returning from an old friend

There is a line in "Softness" that says: Everyone is lonely. In our life, it is not uncommon to encounter love and sex. What is rare is to encounter understanding. This movie feels the same way. There is nothing more moving than knowing two words. I can't intervene in your life and drive away your troubles, but I understand your loneliness, understand your sudden emotions, understand your helplessness, and stop talking.

Most of the contradictions in life stem from insufficient understanding and understanding, and more and more people feel lonely inside. Just like the hero in the movie, his mother, friends, babysitter, and driver have no way of knowing what he really thinks. The place where he practiced was a swimming pool surrounded by walls, blocking back his sound and emotion. Only Eleanor walked into the pool and into his heart.

I don't want to classify this movie as a simple love movie, because the relationship between the hero and heroine is not simple love or friendship. I really liked a few scenes in the movie, one of them sitting side by side on a chair in an art gallery discussing a painting, and one of them chatting after a nap on the grass. Their personalities, classes, ages are all very different, but you can feel a subtle understanding between them. It's wonderful to be silent together, and it's wonderful to have a good conversation.

In the past, I always thought that it was enough for two people to appreciate each other, but in fact, understanding is more important. When you meet someone who truly understands you and understands you, you can become your truest self, and this way of getting along is the most natural and happiest. Whether your truest side is good or bad, it will only be understood tenderly.

There will always be many encounters in our life that we miss late, but in the end, none of them stayed, and they became a glimpse of each other in memory. But we will not forget the scenery we saw with you, the pleasant and interesting conversation. Some people don't belong to you, but it's nice to meet them.

Like Sunday, Like Rain quotes

  • Reggie: I guess right around 4 I figured out I was sort of a math prodigy, solving pretty intricate math problems.

    Eleanor: Like What.

Reggie: Multiplying 7 to 10 digit numbers in my head. I could give you the cube root of pretty much any number.

    Eleanor: Like Rainman.

Reggie: No, he was an autistic savant. As you can tell, I'm alert, extroverted, affable and articulate...

    Eleanor: Of course.

Reggie: ...and not to mention devilishly handsome.

    Eleanor: Not to mention.

  • Eleanor: What was the name of that piece you wrote for the recital?

    Reggie: Like Sunday, Like Rain.

    Eleanor: So beautiful.

Reggie: I'll write a part for the cornet.
