This is the trial

The film mainly said two sentences: one, she became an orphan twice; two, this is a trial, a trial of what I have seen and done.

Being orphaned twice was a wonderful expression of the theme. The girl was killed in the aboriginal vengeance against the whites and her family was killed and she became an orphan, but the aboriginals took her in and raised her, she became a white girl who integrated into the aboriginal society . However, she once again lost her family and "relatives" in the catastrophe of the white people slaughtering the indigenous people. The child lost his relatives twice, and he was the relatives of the two opposing parties. This is undoubtedly a huge irony, a kind of sorrow without tears, a hoarse accusation of the war.

In the second sentence, it is easy to understand the punishment and trial of the male lead in the war, but why is there still something to be seen? What we have seen is the annihilation of humanity in the war, and more importantly, it implies the aggression and massacre of Native Americans by white people.

This is a large-scale film, the theme is to accuse the war, accuse the cruelty and stupidity of the war, there is no winner in the war, everyone involved in the war will be hurt. The previous "Cold Mountain" also had similar depth and strength to analyze and accuse the war, but this film also added repentance and thinking about the criminal aggression and massacre of the indigenous people. Although the girl's parents were also killed by the indigenous people, although Mr. Farley said that the Mexicans, blacks, and Indians they faced were threatening their lives in real time, but the whites were the invaders after all. After all, the indigenous people had lived peacefully on this land for thousands of years. Although Captain Kidd said that when we arrived at a new place, we wanted to cultivate and plant, but we just wanted to survive here. No one yearned for war, but it still happened.

The end of the film is also very interesting. Two people who lost their relatives, suffered, fell into the world, and lost life in the war came together. Captain Kidd took on the responsibility of raising Johanna, and the two lived together dependent on each other. This perfect and warm right-wing finale actually expresses the wish that the white people represented by Captain Kidd and the aboriginal people represented by Johanna will let go of their suspicions and live in harmony on this land, and the white people have also realized what their ancestors have committed against the aboriginal people. The countless crimes began to repent and be compensated.

Of course this is just a wish.

What we lost will never be returned to us. The land will not heal. Too much blood. The heart will not heal. All we can do is make peace with the past and try to learn from it.
