Perhaps the best proletarian narrative film in five years

What surprised me was that "Judah and the Black Messiah", a movie with a proletarian revolutionary background, was actually made in the United States and nominated for an Oscar.

The story is simple. The leader of the Chicago black revolution died because of betrayal by a traitor.

The background is very interesting. The leader’s party was established with reference to Chairman Mao’s thoughts. The line is to establish an armed regime in the urban slums, and unite with the lower-class whites and other forces that can be fought to make a revolution.

It’s worth seeing, there are two things that are bad if you are picky

One is that the religious metaphor of the title (although it is appropriate) is too black and humorous (after all, the line of the leader in the play actually expresses "our proletariat does not believe in religion, we only believe in revolution")

The second is that the main perspective is used to show the inner struggle of the traitor. In the final analysis, the narrative background of the film is not revolution, nor propaganda revolution.

The movie itself is also excellent, it is worth watching

This film is called Judas and the Black Messiah, directly called Judas Black. . . In addition to uniting the local community and the Crown Party, which was dissatisfied at the beginning, I didn't see the Black Panther Party doing anything else constructive. It's like the beginning of hampton, saying that doing is more important than saying, deborah said, but you are just talking. The whole film just watched Hampton give a speech. . . This movie can be used to supplement the knowledge of the Chicago Seven Gentlemen. . .

The plot is very compact, the film is quite good, and this one other than "Nowhere" also has the potential to win an Oscar. However, the content is more radical, and it may further arouse racial confrontation. It is estimated that there is no drama.

Roy Mitchell: Would you mind explaining that for me?

Bill O'Neal: Any nigger on the streets can get a gun, sir. A badge is like you got the whole damn army behind you.
