I sing about the beauty of life

Recalling the news I saw a few months ago, the number of local Korean moviegoers surpassed that of "Avatar" and came to the second place in history, and then the Dazhong Awards swept the whole house in an uproar a few days ago. What kind of movie is it, I can't help but wonder if I just read the title, until an ordinary Saturday morning.
The story begins with a set that is close to reality. An old couple is sitting in the garden on the roof. Deok-soo, played by Hwang Jung-min, talks about his dream of becoming a captain when he was young. The camera changes, a whole house of grown-up children are going to travel, and the young children are sent to watch. Just meeting in the room, it can be seen that the whole room is directed at Grandma Youngja (played by Jin Yunzhen), and they keep blaming Grandpa Deok-soo for not taking good care of Grandma for making her sick. Dexiu seems to be used to being treated "unfairly" like this. She went to the small shop she owns on International Market Street by herself, and fought with developers who were deliberately trying to buy the shop away. The first turning point of the story came at the moment when the young granddaughter who ran to look for his grandfather was holding hands and was bumped on the shoulder by a passerby.
Time comes to 1950, the Korean War. As the war spreads, Dexiu, who is still a young boy, is forced to embark on a life of fleeing from his hometown. His parents have to carry luggage and two babies. The older sister Moshun is handed over to Dexiu to take care of him. Just as the refugees were rushing to board the U.S. warship, they tried their best to climb onto the deck with their sleepy sister on their backs, only to find that only a torn cuff was clenched in her hand. Knowing the situation, the father decided to disembark to find his sister. Before leaving, he gave the coat to Dexiu, and told him that if he didn't come back, you were the head of the family, and no matter what happened in the future, you would put your family first.
The mother and three children went to a small market in Busan that sold imported goods to join Deok-soo's aunt. The feeling of being under the fence is not good, but it finally settles down. To subsidize the family, Deok-soo starts to shine shoes on the streets of town outside of school, and because of this, he meets a lifelong friend, Dal-joo (played by Oh Dal-soo). Compared with Dexiu, who came from a poor background and learned to be a master, Da Jiu, who has a decent family background, is full of strange ideas.
Ten years later, the grown-up Deok-soo earns a living by doing manual labor on the dock. The younger brother with excellent grades was admitted to the university in Seoul, but because he had no money to read, Dexiu was helpless and always hid in the house drinking boring wine. At this time, Da Jiu, who wanted to go abroad to see the world, came to drag Dexiu to work as a miner in Germany. He knew that his family was valuable, but faced with considerable rewards, Dexiu decided to give it a try. Life in an exotic land is hard and monotonous, and the dangers that sometimes occur in the mines are even more unpredictable. All this kept Deok-soo awake all night until he met Ying-zi. It was also for the sake of making money that they came to Germany to work as a nurse. The similar experience has made the relationship between the two continue to heat up. In the past, Dexiu, who only cared about her family, didn't know how to get along with girls at all, and the only thing she could do was cooking. However, the dreamlike beauty was broken by the sudden mine disaster. When escaping from the mine, two people were trapped inside to save Da Jiu, who was injured by falling rocks, and almost died. After the injury, Dexiu's visa expired and he had to return to China. On the hospital bed, Deok-soo asks Ying-zi if she wants to go back with her. Yingzi pretended to say goodbye firmly and decided to stay and continue working. This relationship did not lose to life. Three months later, Yingzi returned to China with her pregnancy to find Dexiu, and the two got married.
Married life is still not optimistic. The younger sister wants to get married and asks the family for money, and quarrels with the elderly mother; after the death of the aunt, the alcoholic uncle wants to sell the aunt's small shop. At the time of the Vietnam War, Dexiu, who was desperate for money, disregarded the opposition of his mother and wife, and dragged Da Jiu to embark on a difficult journey again. Compared to Germany, the situation in Saigon is only worse. In the towns, we must beware of explosions that may occur at any time, and in the villages we must always be on the lookout for the appearance of Viet Cong guerrillas. During an evacuation operation, in order to save a little girl who fell into the water, Dexiu was punched through his left leg, leaving him permanently disabled. The war once again made Dexiu realize the value of life and the meaning of life.
In the 1980s, life stabilized. There has been a wave of people returning to their hometowns to find relatives in China. Countless people whose families have been separated by the war gathered in Yeouido Square in Seoul, writing and pasting big-character posters hoping to find their lost blood relatives. The program broadcast by the TV station attracted thousands of people, and people burst into tears, applauded and cheered for the recognition of their relatives with gray temples. Da Jiu also joined Dexiu along with him, trying to find his father and his sister who he thought was lost by him, but a failed live connection once made Dexiu and the whole family lose confidence. On the verge of despair, a girl who claimed to be separated during the flight and adopted by the Americans contacted the TV station. Dexu was so excited that her voice trembled and came to the studio again. When the other party said "This is not an amusement park, we are not here to play" and the children's shirt with one sleeve missing, Dexiu and the family in front of the TV cried with joy.
Time finally returned to reality, and a large family gathered to pay homage to Dexiu's mother, who had worked hard all her life. During the banquet, the little granddaughter was asked to sing, and when the little granddaughter sang the song taught by her grandfather to sing when she was a child, everyone looked at each other, and then began to complain about Dexiu. Leaving the laughter and noise, Dexiu went back to his room, holding the coat that his father had given him, and burst into tears. He did what his father asked him to do. Dexiu guarded the family and did not make any family suffer. At that moment, he also seemed to see his father patted his shoulder and said thanks.
After watching the movie and writing the text, the author cried twice. The film is not impeccable: we have seen similar story structures in "Forrest Gump" and even "Alive"; it is not difficult to think of "Sunshine Sisters" when switching before and after (I always feel that there is also Jin Yunzhen in it, it seems that The author remembered it wrongly); sensational tactics are also popular and even suspected of being excessive; the old-fashioned ending echoes and the plots of making fun of hardships are not surprising. However, it is the Hershey's chocolates that can be obtained by playing tricks to avoid the pursuers; it is the childishness of the child when he asks his mother for disobedience and never mentions his sister; Hugs and jokes; it is the Namtian King who was rescued by chance in the jungle of Saigon and became an idol for life; it is also the butterfly and flower that symbolize the cuff of the family. These bits and pieces make up this picture called "home". In the picture, not only family members are enough, but also the fetters of each other, including those cold colors that we call "suffering", embellishing them can be infinitely close A perfect masterpiece.
Huang Zhengmin is still very ruffian, and his white hair seems to be unable to cover it (laughs). Probably, the author's impression is still somewhat stuck with the big brother of the gangster in "New World". Jin Yunzhen has seen relatively few works, and felt that her appearance in the front was a bit too mature, but the back was just right. I liked the scene of her husband returning from the Vietnam War the most, very true. The golden supporting actor Oh Da-soo will not be mentioned much. He is outstanding and does not steal the show. Another work this year, "Assassination", plays Ha Jung-woo's deputy, which is also remarkable.
One last question.
Suffering is never completely gone, and I sing about the beauty of life.
