recommended to watch it with the director's other short film "The Valley of the Whales" . "Stone of the Heart" can be regarded as an expanded version of "The Valley of the Whales". One of the biggest points of convergence between the two films is the extreme use of explicit use of corpses. If the huge corpse of the whale in "The Valley of the Whales" gives people an instant shock, then "Stone of the Heart" repeatedly uses the corpses of different animals to say that the human senses are controlled in a kind of anxiety that is about to rot. Fish with plucked gills, seagulls pecking off their own legs, and sheep charred after being burned are all thrown naked under the camera. More subtly, these are all things that are commonplace in Nordic country life, they are ordinary life.
[2 - Facial Blindness]
The onset of facial blindness, I have never recognized Thor's eldest sister and Beth, which led to the first half of the film I always thought it was an orthopaedic ethics film.
[3 - Rotten Fish]
Thor's forgotten rotten fish outside his home coincides with Thor's unanswered desire for Beth. And the rotten fish disappeared into the water with Thor's underwear, which also means that this chapter is turning, Thor ushered in a new turning point - of course, this is also Christian's turning point
[4 - both hands]
Thor, Christian and Christian's father go to the cliff While collecting seagull eggs. Christian stood on the edge of the cliff and watched, and his father wanted to remind him to be safe. Christian was startled by his father, his first reaction was to put his hands over his head in horror.
This is one of my most heart-wrenching moments for Christian
[5 - Shouting]
Christian's cry in the stable completely subverted the cry he made in the lake after camping early. That was the first time he completely exposed his cry to the air. That was his bravest moment. And in the next second, he saw the pistol hanging on the railing.
[6 - Bending the Bend]
Different from "The Valley of the Whales", a large number of female main characters were introduced in this film. Compared to other so-called "straight bend" films, "Whether Thor has a love for Christian" is definitely not a point of contention in the film. The director has no intention to set the ending of "Stone of the Heart" as a "happy ending" that echoes the same two as "Valley of the Whale", but will run through two main lines, one bend and the other. Those are two similar but different sexual awakening processes. There is no doubt about the deep and indelible bond between Thor and Christian. And how to define this relationship is not what the movie tries to solve.
Besides, Thor's kiss on Beth just before the end is pretty telling.
【7 - Stonefish】
The final blow of the movie is in the last ten seconds. When the Stonefish was thrown back into the water by Thor, it froze, as if Christian had died silently in the lake. It kept sinking, but just two seconds before it disappeared, the fish suddenly swung and swam.
At that moment, I thank the director from the bottom of my heart.
