redemption

Hoh Xil is clean, so there is no room for a trace of blood to contaminate it. The blood of the mountain rangers and the Tibetan antelopes are intertwined, infiltrating and washing away the sins under the vast sky. Some say it's a movie about men, one group of men chasing another group of men and then dying. The plot is simple, the lines are clear, and in the often vast, monotonous and clean picture, one by one small black dots come from far to near. That's a jeep, or a person.

In the natural chest of Hoh Xil, any foreign things can only be small black dots, sullying the purity of this holy land. Sometimes the starry sky is bright, sometimes the sand is flying, and sometimes there is a blizzard. The protagonist of the film is Hoh Xil, the ultimate sacred land. The people in the movie, good and evil, appear one after another, but they are all supporting roles, in order to perform this tragic redemption.

Director Lu Chuan showed us such a closed and cruel world under the holy sky with a realistic approach. The whole film uses a group-like structure to shape the characters' personalities, continues the storyline with the emotional experience of bystanders (reporters), and at the same time examines Hoh Xil in this capacity. In today's film market full of Hollywood commercial blockbusters, the whole film is bland but still shocking, and it has made a new legend with the most simple and straightforward pictures and dialogues.
