metaphor of hero

This movie is very reminiscent of the theme of "anti-Japanese". But I don't understand why so many people feel bored when it comes to the anti-Japanese war.
National hatred and the strong and unyielding struggle it has caused, I think it belongs to a hero.
Perhaps we have received too much "overkill" patriotic education, and we have seen the joking and commercialization of nationalism, so it is difficult to resonate like this.
But I think when watching this movie, you should remove those things from "our" first, and look at this movie from the perspective of "their". I think this kind of attitude is the respect for the movie and the respect for Choi Min-sik's performance.
In addition, the special effects of this film are indeed more urgent, but this is not the point. Art should have humanistic feelings.
