From that little bit of discomfort

1. The Kite Runner. At the beginning of the film, the friendship between the teenagers is subtle, and they are cautiously tempted to each other due to the different status of the students. Ami's pain for his father's disapproval and jealousy of his father's preference for Hassan. In order to get the blue kite, in order to win the praise of his father, he abandoned Hassan in distress. For Hassan "for you thousands of times", his unconditional trust failed. Later, in order to drive away the anxiety in his heart, he designed to drive away Hassan and his son.
2. Possibly, this is like a huge wheel of fortune. Because of his father’s disapproval, and because of the guilt of killing his mother (the mother died because of his dystocia), the young Ami’s inferiority complex was sensitive. Only his partner (servant) Hassan trusted him unconditionally. He came from Hassan. Gain confidence and respect (Hassan, who is illiterate, admires Ami). But in his father's unconscious comparison with Hassan, in Hassan's sunshine and integrity, and in his own cowardice, he pales in comparison.
3. He has an inexplicable feeling towards Hassan.
4. Because of the gap in social status, Ami has an innate advantage over Hassan, so the two can never become friends in the true sense. Ami was able to expose the "evil" in his character to Hassan. Through intentional or unintentional bullying, Ami expresses to Hassan the pressure from his father and even Hassan in life. But Hassan has brought him so much happiness and recognition, it seems that everything is because he is not good enough. In the end, in order to get his father's approval, he even saw Hassan being raped, just to keep his blue kite. He felt guilty for Hassan and wanted Hassan to pay him back, and wanted them to be equal, but Hassan still did nothing, and even wiped the rotten fruit on his face. Hassan was still so tolerant. He, trust him, love him. Under his calm appearance, there is a flood that cannot be found. The guilt and the restlessness of sleeping and eating are tormenting him. He still vented his evil on Hassan because he was a servant and he was weak. Hassan was forced away by him, and he seemed to have found peace.
5. After many years, someone told him that Hassan was his half-brother. He was an unrecognizable son born from adultery between his father and his servant’s wife. This is so ridiculous.
6. Because of his father’s concealment, intentional or unintentional comparison, the unequal status between Hassan and Ami, Ami’s inferiority, self-pity, self-inflicted pride, and Hassan’s humiliation and pain. In that society of status and status, how many more stories are there? Maybe this is what is called destiny in the social context.
7. The emotional clues in the film are revealed in the details. But such a film that was supposed to be full of humanistic care has taken on a political color, and even some ideas have been brainwashed.
8. From about 20 minutes from the beginning, there has been an invisible slander of some concepts, such as Communist (Communist), Mullah (Muslim clergy), describing them as representatives of riots and superstition. Not to mention the description of the demonization of the Taliban (sodoma, murderer). There are also bloody sheep’s heads and bull heads that appear repeatedly in the film, which seems to imply that the Arab world is a barbaric and uncivilized society. These descriptions may have correct aspects, but their descriptions are too one-sided and thin, and they do not have the rich cultural experience of the author's original works.
9. There will be an old question here, the demonized narrative of the East in the West. From the few movies I've seen, such as M. Butterfly, the last emperor, the veil, the old-fashioned oriental society is the eunuch of the yin and yang, the lifeless concubine, the jaw-dropping one man and two women, just like robots. , Cold-blooded, inhumane Communist cadres, ignorant third world people or mobs...not to mention the bloody and terrifying depictions of Native American cannibals. They can’t see the idyllic and beautiful scenery and the harmonious relationship between people. They can’t see and understand. They are still doing the evil they committed to the people of America, Africa, and Asia in the last century. Looking for a little bit of relief-so ignorant, don't the barbaric people really need them to liberate? It's just that the behavior is a bit too aggressive, and the violence is controlled by violence. In previous blockbuster films, Westerners often played the role of rescuers. Local people were killed by terrorists or racists (often in internal fighting). Western white soldiers appeared with guns to save the people. . But it never mentioned that it was probably these white soldiers who left the seeds of today's instability on this land 50 or 100 years ago, and sowed the flames of war.
10. They played the image of a savior, and America was portrayed as a paradise on the other side. At the end of the film, Hassan's son was taken to the United States to complete the final redemption. The hero and father lived a happy and peaceful life only when they arrived in the United States (the bad description of American society in the original book was completely abandoned). Is this finding a basis for the anti-terrorism war that the US government has launched frequently in recent years? Ignoring the war in the name of nuclear that was actually launched in Iraq, there is actually no clue that the nuclear has not been found and it has links with terrorists.
11. And the political concepts that appeared throughout the film such as the Soviet Union, communism, backward third world society, the Taliban, terrorists (associating them with sodomy and sexual relations with children is also interesting ), all of which are full of denunciations overtly or secretly, and these happen to be the current or former political opponents or targets of American society. These political concepts are not mentioned at all in the original work.
12. How can a film that is full of so many political intentions reflect the fascinating scenery in which the hidden and charming emotions in the book are truly compatible with the background of the times? And they just made it into a political propaganda film. When I watched it, I felt that the depiction resembled the description of the Japanese army in the anti-Japanese war movie I saw in elementary school. But thinking about it, we are telling it from the perspective of the victim. But they are to a certain extent the role of war initiators to make such a description, how can it not make people feel nauseous?
13. It is said that the film was released in the United States with great success. It is also said that the two young boy actors in the film may be persecuted when they return to their home countries, which aroused the sympathy and solidarity of the American people. Therefore, as a political propaganda film that rectifies the wars waged by the United States in recent years and satisfies the beauty's own superiority and values, it has succeeded.

I have always been ignorant and curious about that piece of land on earth! Although the film subjectively starts from the standpoint of the United States, it still outlines the reality of that magical land for the viewers. Whether the United States is a paradise is a matter of opinion, but compared with Afghanistan under the Taliban rule, which does not treat people like people, even kite fighting is banned. It is indeed paradise. There are so many points that can be shaped in the story itself, it is not easy to smooth it out and present it to the audience to make the audience applaud.

I regret, I regret, I regret! I really shouldn't watch this movie, it was a total mistake! I forgot to post the movie on the rental site and it came to me unexpectedly. I was really, really looking forward to seeing the original. After watching this film and thinking back to Hosseini's style of writing in "A thousand splendid suns", I really think what a great book this should be! Now I'm completely spoiled by this movie, I regret it, I regret it, I regret it!

The Kite Runner quotes

  • Baba: [regarding the mullahs, who teach that drinking alcohol is a sin] I piss on the beards of all those self-righteous monkeys.

  • Amir: [explaining Sohrab's presence] You see, General Sahib, my father slept with his servant's wife, and she bore him a son named Hassan. Hassan is dead now. That boy sleeping in the other room is Hassan's son. He's my nephew. That's what you tell people when they ask. And one more thing, General Sahib: you will never again refer to him as "a Hazara boy" in my presence. He has a name, and it's Sohrab.
