In terms of masters, Kim Ki-deok's representative works are almost always selected, but why can "Sad Dream" be selected, but there are no "Samaria Girl" and "The Drifting Room"? Could it be that these two works that made Kim Ki-deok famous and famous internationally are not as good as "Sad Dream"? Obviously not. Park Chan-wook's "Old Boy", "Common Security Zone", and "I Want Vengeance" were not unexpectedly selected, but the failure of "Kind Gold" still made me a little disappointed. Bong Joon-ho's "Memories of Murder" and "Mother" occupied the top and tenth positions on the list, but "Kidnapping the Door Dog", a masterpiece of dark humor and "The Monster of the Han River", a masterpiece reflecting on human nature, was ignored. Jin Zhiyun is almost left alone. (Except for the substandard work "Three Guys") but "Rose Flower and Red Lotus" (the pinnacle of Korean horror) and "Unpublished and Bizarre Murder" (the master of Korean film black humor) are in the list The almost bottom position is hard to convince. Unsurprisingly, all five works of Li Cangdong were selected. The most outrageous thing is that Hong Sang-soo's films don't even have a trace on this list. Even if he ignores all his other films, how can the "Discovery of Life", which is full of life, be ignored?
Lin Quanze's "A Song of Elegy" and "Drunken Painting Immortal" are well-received. Li Guangmo's "Spring in Hometown" was ignored, apparently because too few people watched it.
Crime gangster/suspense thriller movies are getting the attention of the app. Luo Hongzhen's "The Chaser" and "The Yellow Sea" were selected by high votes. "Sunflower," "Despicable Street," "Movies Are Movies," "The Kim Funan Murder Case," "That Guy's Voice," "Uncle," and "Blowfly" were unsurprisingly selected. The selection of "Unforgiven" is a bit inexplicable. Although this film is also a good thriller, it is obviously far from being selected into the top 100. However, the crime masterpieces such as "Murdering the Murderer" and "Love's Dismemberment" are obviously ignored.
Romance can be described as one of the two representative genres of the rise of Korean films. The well-known classics "My Sassy Girl", "If Love Had Providence", "August Photo Studio", "The Scent of Chrysanthemum", "Daisy", "Love Novel", "The Eraser in My Brain", "Touch Unexpected Lovers" and "Love's Bungee Jumping" were elected as expected. In terms of comedy, the masterpiece of black humor "Gas Station Attack", "Speeding Scandal", "Killer Company", "Please Don't Trust Her" and "My Little Bride" are not lacking.
Inspirational/family films have received unprecedented attention. "Love, Go Home" topped the list, sports inspirational films "Marathon", "Sugar cube", last year's two touching family films "Harmony", "Wedding Dress", and this year's "I Love You" were all selected.
Youth movies are still the most moving. The early "Friends" and "The Cruel History of Horse Porridge Street" were not unexpectedly elected, and this year's popular "Sunshine Sisters Amoy" even triggered national nostalgia and entered the top five. The war movies "Flag of Taiji", "Silmi Island" and "Welcome to Dongmo Village" were all elected, but "Life and Death", which attracted the world's attention, was ignored. Another type of Korean horror that can be labeled "Made in Korea" is clearly despised. Only "The Rose and the Red Lotus", "The Strange Story of Women's High School 3" and "Hansel and Gretel" were selected. If nothing else, speaking of the past of the Korean horror "Pen Immortal"? Even "The High School Girl 1" is not worse than "The High School Girl 3", right? Finally, there are so many new films on this list. The films in the past three years account for almost one-third of the entire list.
Well, there is too much to say, so let's talk about it first. Overall, this list is still a good reference for watching Korean movies, but if you trust the list too much, you will lose.
