Four youths: French-Algerian, middle-class gay, peasant's son, communist woman - worrying about their graduation exam results, thinking about the world and the future, talking about war, sex and politics, answering honestly, and asking. As summer approaches, the four of them go on a trip—French Algeria and communist meet in the woods, and the other two travel farther and farther. After a short period of passion and joy, the right-wing French left, and the other three ended hand in hand. One French, two French, four French, one French.
