The 1996 film had no beauty filters, no special effects, and silly white sweetness, but the actors were young and attractive, and the story was memorable.
The two mainland boys came to Hong Kong, each looking for the dream of gold digging, because they liked Teresa Teng together. The difference is that Li Xiaojun (Liming) has no self-confidence in himself and has a simple personality, so he is willing to start from the most basic work, not afraid of hardship or fatigue, all the motivation comes from bringing his girlfriend to Hong Kong to marry and live. And Li Qiao (Maggie Cheung) is reluctant to admit that she is a mainland girl because of family reasons. She wants to get ahead quickly, so all kinds of investments have ended in failure.
The film is realistic and heart-wrenching. Especially when Li Qiao said to Li Xiaojun on the street, I came to Hong Kong not for this kind of life. In the dark night, she was so confused, helpless, and eager to succeed, so that she could give up her love and go to Brother Leopard. She seems to have achieved the success she wants, but is she happy? Is this the life she wants? I'm afraid only she knows it.
And Li Xiaojun left his wife for love. Even after not waiting for Li Qiao, he gave all the money to his wife and worked in the United States alone. They have so many opportunities to meet again, and they pass each other at different times and places, which makes people feel emotional and helpless. After ten years of back and forth overlap, it is because of Teresa Teng that they come together again.
But how many decades can life be? The picture goes back to the time when the two first came to Hong Kong, each on the train, with a young and fearless heart and the vision and dream of laying a piece of the sky in this city, and rushing to their different places with great interest.
If life is just like the first sight, what is the autumn wind and sad painting fan? Can everyone find the life they desire? I believe that their happiness when they ride on the street and sing sweetly together should be real, but the feeling of reuniting after all the wind and rain may make each other appreciate each other even more.
