Watching this movie reminds me of my mother. She cooks good dishes like Sister Tao, and takes care of us for decades without any regrets. She is as diligent and thrifty as Sister Tao, she is reluctant to throw things away, and she always keeps things in storage. She has been in existence for decades; she also, like Sister Tao, said that she would take the bus instead of a taxi when she got better.
Roger finally took back the house and planned to let Sister Tao live. Sister Tao also sat in the house before leaving, fulfilling her wish, or fulfilling Roger's own wish to do something for Sister Tao, In order not to regret it in the future.
I can understand Roger's choice at the last moment of Sister Tao. On the surface, he is cold and chooses to escape, but he is afraid of facing the last cruel moment, and he also hopes to reduce the time of Sister Tao's pain in the world. This reminds me of the scene when my mother left last month from time to time. I am reluctant, really reluctant. On the occasion of Mother's Day, to my hard-working, thrifty mother who has worked hard all her life, may her spirit in heaven rest in peace.
The movie is warm at any time, but it bursts with laughter from time to time, making the film more cordial and warm.
One thing I want to mention in particular, there is a scene where an old man in a nursing home is smoking in a wheelchair outside wearing thick clothes, and no one smokes indoors in the whole film, except for Roger's movie premiere from the mainland. Director Ning Hao was reminded by Sister Tao when he was smoking indoors. This scene may be the director's attempt to draw out a heavyweight, but it also reflects the difference between the mainland and Hong Kong. Hong Kong completely bans indoor smoking, which is also true of European countries, but the mainland does not have this legal requirement. In domestic gatherings or public places, I will helplessly inhale other people's second-hand smoke, and sometimes even go home at night with a strong smell of smoke.
I personally think that the simple smoking issue also reflects the issue of cultural differences and civilization. Not smoking in public places is also a respect for those who do not want to smoke second-hand smoke. At this point, I think the awareness of mainlanders really needs to be improved, or we should have stricter legal constraints.
