From the monologue at the end of the film:
Film director is a very special job. We must continue to use new image symbols to express fresh emotions. We don't just live in movies anymore. We became homeless people, exposed to the stares, doubts, and ridicule, unable to tell anyone what happened to us. These experiences don't show up in the script or the movie, they're just memories, bizarre memories. The near-finished film can only verify a part of it, and the full record cannot be completed until the next journey begins anew, from one place to another, constantly observing, questioning, and fantasizing. And this is the next work.
