Roh Moo-hyun and Chen Shui-bian

The film itself is quite satisfactory, the rhythm is relatively smooth, and Song Kanghao's performance also has extra points. But the movie's shock to me is more from real events, based on Roh Moo-hyun's real experience. Taking the ending of the film as an example, the name-calling segment in which 99 defenders appeared in court to defend is a major climax of the whole film. Similar handling methods are not new, but because of the real background, 99 of the more than 140 lawyers in Busan did appear in court that day, which is a real shock.

I would like to talk about the original character of the protagonist in the film, President Roh Moo-hyun-won. Just write and write, it will not be verified, just say what you know.

Personally, Roh Moo-hyun and Chen Shui-bian's encounters are very similar.

From a humble background, his family was poor, but he continued to improve himself. After graduating from high school, Roh Moo-hyun passed the bar exam while working part-time and became a lawyer. Chen Shui-bian was admitted to National Taiwan University first place, passed the judicial examination in college, and became a maritime lawyer after graduation. Both of them changed the trajectory of their lives through reading and lived a prosperous life.
In the 1980s, the wave of democratization was surging. Roh Moo-hyun defended the students who were persecuted by the Chun Doo-hwan government and embarked on the path of a human rights lawyer; Chen Shui-bian defended the parties involved in the "Beautiful Island" incident and embarked on a political path.
After democratization, the two were elected president.
After leaving the presidency, Roh Moo-hyun reported a scandal of political donations; during his presidency, Chen Shui-bian was embarrassed because of the confidential fee case.

Up to this stage, the situation of the two people is still similar.
The only difference is that Roh Moo-hyun jumped, but his past and future events happened; Chen Shui-bian was imprisoned, but he didn't stop talking nonsense.

The core of Confucian culture is the culture of "shame", but it is obvious that Japanese and Koreans are more affected.

What I don't quite understand is, why did Lu and Chen fall for the money? They turned out to be successful lawyers, earning far more than the president's salary, and even giving up their lucrative lives in order to defend justice.

I have written a lot, but there is no point. No matter how good or brave a person is when he is young, he may still fall in the end. But this is no reason to resist democratization.

Excellent people such as Roh Moo-hyun will eventually become corrupt, so why democratize? Democracy has a price, efficiency will be reduced, mistakes will be made, but there is also a correction mechanism. The great man descends from the sky, that is the myth of Mount Paektu.

Finally, let's get back to the movies. Whether it is "The Defender" or "Beautiful Island", the trial process is open to the public, and the defender can defend freely. The public authority cannot prevent you from appearing in court just because you have poked my weakness, and foreign media can listen to it freely. Their enemies are fairly civilized.
