The whole film is full of nostalgia for the era of zombie movies, and a few scenes that stand out in this regard are the scenes of Qian Xiaohao and Uncle Friends talking about Nuomi and Aunt Mei and Uncle Dong dying together (there are many more), as well as the theme song.
In terms of the plot, I also think the story is well told, the idea is clear, compact, and the tension is enough. The two lines of Qian Xiaohao's friend's brother Afeng and Meiyidong's Jiushu's line are clearly explained. No redundant parts.
Among the actors, Aunt Mei played by Bao Qijing is the most full and three-dimensional character in the whole film, almost showing a multi-faceted person with complete personality characteristics.
As a horror film, the tone of the film helps a lot to create its atmosphere, and it also helps to better present the two worlds (Qian Xiaohao's imagination and reality) in the film. The props and decorations are well done, and the sound effects are good (I especially like the sound effects that rhythmically wander around the head in a certain scene, which is very scary). The effects are good, but there are some flaws. The film production is rare in Hong Kong films in recent years. great.
To sum up the above, Mai Junlong should take the lead.
