To be truly terrifying, the rare thing is that the idea is not bad.

It's been a long time since I watched a Chinese zombie movie. I remember that this type of movie is mainly comedy like "Happy Ghost". I naturally don't like it if it pursues horror.

However, this film is different. It is really scary. Although it is not strong, it is not easy to achieve such a degree on this theme, but what's more, the reversal of the ending is surprising.

A middle-aged zombie actor with a broken family commits suicide in a rental house. He was rescued by a good Taoist priest (the good Taoist priest is emphasized here because there is also a bad Taoist priest in the film), and then he discovered that his rental house was haunted - the original owner raped a pair of twins, was killed by the twins, and later The twins committed suicide. After that, the twins' souls were forced to stay in the rental house. The wife and children of the murdered homeowner were stimulated to go mad and become homeless. The zombie actor hopes to help the mad wife and child, and hopes that the good Taoist priest will rent out the house to exorcise the ghosts.

Another line, in this building, also lived an old couple and a bad Taoist priest. The bad Taoist wanted to refine zombies and kill the old man. The old woman who didn't know the truth found the bad Taoist priest and begged him to use the evil way to bring the old man back to life.

The soul of the old man and the coercion of the twins were used by the bad Taoist priests to make them into zombies. In the end, with the help of a good Taoist priest, the zombie actor and the zombie died in the ultimate battle.

But - this is not true, everything is the imagination of the zombie actor before his death. On his way to the rental house to commit suicide, he mixed some of the people he saw into his fantasy and staged a heroic show.

In the end, this reversal of the plot is the profound point of the movie. In the few seconds before a person dies, there are struggles, regrets, and unwillingness, all of which are realized in his imaginary stories. He didn't want to die so plainly and condescendingly. The fantasy began that he was rescued by a good Taoist priest, which proved that he had repented and he didn't want to die. After the war with zombies, he accepted death, but not the way he died. He hoped that he would be a hero who saves mankind and destroys zombies and died in this heroic way. At the same time, this way is his best curtain call as a zombie actor.

In the few seconds a person is about to die, what thoughts will appear? A common saying is that his life will be fully interpreted in the way of a revolving lantern. The film has expanded another way of saying that one by one, those wishes will be realized in their own fantasies, so that they can die more calmly.

The horror elements of the film are on target, but I feel that there are some areas that could have been more intense. For example, the old man who turned into a zombie could have done more detailed and terrifying in the first seven ghosts. And the battle of Zombie War is not very good. In terms of concept, the film basically did a good job.
